Way back in the days when Emma was yet to become this seductive siren, she used to play a bubbly girl on the NXT roster. Coming to the United States all the way from Australia, she was a fan-favorite character on TV who loved to do fun antics. That led her to dance while making her way to the ring and it became quite a popular one.

For those who don’t know, Emma was originally signed with the WWE in 2011. Her origin was the FCW which later became NXT and she was one of those names who are considered to be a part of the original batch of the black-and-yellow brand. It was in 2014 that she got the chance to enter the main roster and showcase her wrestling as well as dancing skills.

Her unique ring entrance fetched public attention when she used to dance her way into the ring spreading the two hands in the air. It seemed an alien-like thing sometimes but it became popular nonetheless. On a recent episode of the Out of Character podcast, Emma opened up about her time in WWE NXT and that awkward dancing was invented that became synonymous with her character.

Byron Saxton invented Emma’s strange dance moves

Emma noted that current WWE Raw broadcasting member Byron Saxton was a big part of the NXT creative team and he was the one to add that weird dance to her theme music,

“It was basically Byron and I walking around the room doing these kind of weird arm things” that inspired the dance. “His was more of an Egyptian dance and I was a little more loose with it, a little more obnoxious with it,” she said with a laugh. “It was so ridiculous and horrible, and I was so dedicated to this dance, that people just wanted to be part of it.”

Upon her arrival on the main roster, Emma was touted to be a bright future female superstar but she ended up eventually released from the contract in 2017 after the disastrous Emmalina conversion.

After her WWE release, she competed in IMPACT Wrestling under her real name Tenille Dashwood and on the independent circuit. She became a Knockouts Champion with Madison Rayne. Then Emma returned to WWE after a five-year absence on the October 28th episode of WWE SmackDown, answering Ronda Rousey’s open challenge but coming up short to win the gold.
