The post-Wrestlemania 38 season will continue on WWE Smackdown as we move towards the next PLE stop in Wrestlemania Backlash 2022. This week’s episode has an Intercontinental Title match scheduled on the show where an Indian superstar gets to be the challenger. After Reigns was able to hype up The Usos for RAW, Shinsuke Nakamura interrupted as Reigns got the opportunity to taunt him about how his tag team partner Rick Boogs suffered an injury at WrestleMania at the hands of WWE Smackdown tag team champions.
Being a compassionate person, Reigns then hugged Nakamura in the middle of the ring and said something to him which confused Nakamura. Reigns stepped back, making way for The Usos to drop Nakamura with a double superkick. Following this segment, rumors are rife that WWE has plans for a Nakamura vs. Reigns title match. As noted above, WWE Intercontinental Title will also be on the line as the champion Ricochet will defend against Jinder Mahal. Drew McIntyre vs. Sami Zayn in a rematch has been booked for this week’s WWE Smackdown. Last week, Zayn wanted some competition and in the process got himself booked against McIntyre In the match, McIntyre dominated Zayn and was about to put him away with the Claymore Kick. But Zayn escaped through the crowd, forcing the referee to count him out. As a result, he will have to face the Scottish Warrior, once more, tonight.
WWE Smackdown Preview (15/04/22): Lacey Evans Story Continues
The story of Lacey Evans should also continue on WWE Smackdown via a new vignette that could be dubbed the second chapter of her story. Last week, Evans made her first appearance since announcing her pregnancy in February 2021. She went on to cut a promo about real-life struggles to indicate that she’d be returning to TV as a babyface character.
The DCU Center has Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins advertised for WWE SmackDown in a WrestleMania 38 rematch. If these two superstars do attend the show then this match could serve as the dark main event.
