This week’s WWE Smackdown is going to be the final edition of the Friday night show for the year 2021. There won’t be any live show, next week during the New Year’s Eve as Fox is likely to host a review episode, instead.
As for this week, a taped edition will be hosted with the potential headliner in a WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship match. There would be fallouts from the firing of Paul Heyman by Roman Reigns. Also, there will be a gauntlet to crown a new challenger for the IC championship on the show that was taped from the All-State Arena in Chicago, Illinois.
WWE Day 1: Smackdown Wrestler To Help Roman Reigns Against Brock Lesnar
Last week’s WWE Smackdown on FOX closing segment saw The Bloodline come to the ring as Roman Reigns interrogated Paul Heyman, and pointed out how they are not blood. Reigns continuously asked whether Heyman knew about Brock Lesnar’s Summerslam return ahead of time and whether he shares any sort of connection with him.
Reigns went ahead to fire Paul Heyman from his Special Counsel’s position and proceeded to flatten Heyman with a Superman Punch for a big pop. He went for a Con-Chair-To when Brock Lesnar arrived at the ring to create a ruckus. The Beast took care of Reigns and Usos, single-handedly to stand tall. After the alliance with Roman Reigns has come to an end, we expect to hear some words, tonight from Heyman/Reigns as the WWE Day 1 title match against Lesnar approaches near.
WWE Smackdown Preview (24/12/21): Charlotte Flair vs. Toni Storm
This week’s WWE SmackDown on FOX episode will be a special Christmas Eve episode as it has been announced that Charlotte Flair will be defending the SmackDown Women’s Title against Toni Storm.
Flair and Storm have been feuding for a few weeks now on the show with the latter wishing to receive a title match opportunity on repetitive occasions. Flair got herself disqualified in a Championship Contender’s match, two weeks ago. Then the title match was confirmed, last week as Storm and Sasha Banks defeated Flair and Shotzi in a tag team match. It was Storm who ended up pinning Flair via a roll-up.
Ex WWE Raw Star Brie Bella Gives House Tour On Christmas 2021 Occasion
A 12 Days of Christmas Gauntlet Match has also been announced for the Christmas Eve WWE SmackDown. The winner of this match will receive a title shot from WWE Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura. While nothing has been noted, we expect this match to go down on the same night or at the WWE Day 1 PPV event.
The 12 participants for the Gauntlet Match are Ricochet, Cesaro, Mansoor, Erik, Ivar, Drew Gulak, Sheamus, Sami Zayn, Jinder Mahal, Shanky, Angel, and Humberto. The IC Champion Nakamura and Rick Boogs will be on commentary during the match. At this point, Sami Zayn looks to be the favorite to win the match as he was awarded this opportunity instead of a Universal Title match against Reigns.
