This was the go-home edition of Smackdown Live for the Backlash PPV. A face-off was scheduled for the final hype ups of WWE Championship match.
The United States (US) Champion was scheduled to appear on Miz TV for the first time. Plus, a huge six-woman tag team match was confirmed, as well.
Check out the results from the hosted by the Bell Center in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Smackdown Live kicked off with the Miz TV. The Montreal crowd started chanting to see Maryse to which Miz responded, too.
Thereafter he invited his guest on the show, Jeff Hardy and started talking trash about him, right away. Randy Orton and Shelton Benjamin also appeared to ensue a chaos inside the ring.
After an altercation took place in the ring, a tag team match was booked with Randy Orton and Jeff Hardy teaming against Benjamin and The Miz. The latter one received a back-breaker on the announce table.
Thereafter, Orton finished off the match in style with an RKO on Benjamin. Jeff also digested an RKO, once the match was over.
Big Cass appeared on Smackdown for a promo segment to hype up his match against Daniel Bryan at Backlash. He started blasting the Montreal crowd and patted himself on the back for being a New Yorker.
Later, a midget appeared dressed as Bryan. Cass immediately started attacking him as the officials ran down to make the save.
Sheamus and Xavier Woods had singles match on Smackdown. This happened by virtue of another backstage verbal exchange. Big E tried to provide Woods the upper hand but instead hit the barricade to get neutralized.
Sheamus got distracted by this incident. So, Woods picked up the win with a small package.
Renee Young introduced AJ Styles to the Montreal crowd who received a huge ovation. While talking about the title match at Backlash, Samoa Joe’s music hit. He cut his own promo about how he’s going to put Roman Reigns to sleep.
Nakamura appeared from the back and hit a low blow to Styles and followed it up with a Kinshasa.
In the main event match on Smackdown Live, we received a six-woman tag team match.
The lineup was Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, and Asuka vs. Smackdown Women’s Champion Carmella and The IIconics. Carmella neutralized Becky Lynch by taking her off the top rope only to receive a spear from Charlotte.
The Queen then hit a moonsault to keep Kay and Carmella down. Asuka, the legal one inside the ring, locked in the arm-bar on Royce to force her to tap out.
The three babyfaces celebrated to close this week’s Smackdown Live.
