Last night, the WWE Smackdown crew had to pull off double duties on a single night as they had to tape two episodes. The February 18 edition which will also serve as Elimination Chamber go-home episode was also taped from the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana once last night’s episode was over.
Results and spoilers, about a new champion being crowned, are now available, courtesy of Wrestling INC, and these are given below:
* A face-off segment between WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg opened WWE Smackdown. The two didn’t go physical but rather got engaged in some trash-talking in a rather short segment. Goldberg came out to his full-version entrance from his dressing room, with pyros.
* Ricochet defeated Sheamus in a singles contest.
* Sami Zayn defeated WWE Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura to become the new WWE Intercontinental Champion in the potential main event for next week’s WWE Smackdown. You can check out a photo of Zayn after he pulled off the victory. No details are available about the pin-fall sequence.

Sami Zayn to start third IC title reign on WWE Smackdown
Zayn had been the number-one contender for the Intercontinental Title since winning the 12 Days of Christmas Gauntlet match on the December 24 WWE SmackDown episode. He was due for the title match opportunity since Nakamura was sitting out of action with an injury.
This would mark Sami Zayn’s third reign with the Intercontinental Championship and it would be counted from next week. Nakamura won the strap back on the August 13 episode of WWE SmackDown by defeating Apollo Crews.
Will Goldberg Wrestle After WWE Elimination Chamber 2022?
No further information is available regarding the other segments from next week’s episode but WWE must have taped a few more for the show to project as final hypes before Elimination Chamber. Ronda Rousey is booked to perform in a tag team match on that upcoming night and it’s pretty much confirmed that she will be a part of WWE Smackdown on February 18.
WWE has taped next week’s WWE SmackDown, this week in New Orleans since the crew will have to travel to Saudi Arabia next Friday for Elimination Chamber which is scheduled for February 19, the very next day.
