WWE: Smackdown Superstar Wants Release From the Roster
Jun 4, 2018 at 2:17 PM
The Rusev Day chants have been outrageous on each of the Smackdown shows for the better part of this (2018) year. Initially, this was supposed to be a part of his heel gimmick.
So much so. Aiden English started singing the ‘Rusev Day’ songs to annoy the crowd, initially. But, this turned out to be a huge hit for the audience. There’s no stop of this chant whenever an opportunity is given.
With the help from this, Rusev has managed to become perhaps the most ‘over’ superstar of the Smackdown roster.
However, Rusev’s position in the company is not likely to make him happy. Ever since joining the blue brand of the company, we thought that his career will fly high. But, in reality, that turned out to be disastrous.
Rusev was not booked in any proper feud except for the one against Randy Orton back at Summerslam. Whether this was about to put him over as a top heel, the reality turned out to be opposite as The Viper literally buried him with consecutive wins.
Despite what the fans think about the former United States (US) Champion, a push was never reserved for him.
Meanwhile, his merchandise sale hit an all-time high just prior to the Wrestlemania 34 event which is why the officials were forced to book him in a proper match.
Otherwise, the initial planning was to insert Rusev into the fifth annual Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal that was hosted on the pre-show segment. Apart from this, there’s another reason stated by stillrealtous.com.
Apparently, The Bulgarian brute is dealing with the same problem for a long time now and hence asked a release from the WWE officials. This might be the primary reason why he got booked into the US Championship match at Wrestlemania.
Randy Orton, Bobby Roode, and Jinder Mahal were the remaining four participants of the match.
Check out the updates from the source, “Mike Johnson of PWInsider recently reported that one source claimed Rusev asked for his release because he was unhappy with how he was being used, so WWE added him to the title match. However, Johnson did note that he couldn’t confirm the report with a second source.”

The man who once had an undefeated streak seemed to be unhappy with his career, for a long time. It led him to sarcastically joke about it even on Twitter, on multiple occasions.
