Drew McIntyre came back into the match throwing Roman Reigns with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. But he ran into a spear after which Shane pulled the referee outside the ring. He hit a coast-to-coast on the poster boy only to find out that he kicked out of the pinfall count. McIntyre followed up with a Glasgow Kiss but Reigns shoved McMahon off the ring and hit another spear on McIntyre. This time around, the referee made the count and Reigns received a sweet redemption from the early beatdowns.

The rivalry between Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns started prior to Wrestlemania that marked the comeback for the latter one. The poster boy of the WWE overcame the odds to defeat his opponent to claim back his yard. But a bonafide heel like McIntyre was nowhere near to end his beef against The Big Dog. He made himself look even stronger in the following weeks making an ally with Shane McMahon and set up a rematch at Stomping Grounds, (courtesy WWE.com)

“At WWE Stomping Grounds, Roman Reigns will look to stomp Drew McIntyre into oblivion for the simple reason that he is associated with Shane McMahon. After The Scottish Psychopath aided Shane-O-Mac for weeks in his quest to bring Reigns to his knees in retaliation for the former WWE Champion slugging Mr. McMahon with a Superman Punch, The Big Dog decided to double down on his already-scheduled battle against Shane at WWE Super ShowDown by choosing to face McIntyre two weeks later.”

Now, odds were not in the favor of Roman Reigns at Stomping Grounds for some obvious reasons. It was evident that Drew McIntyre would not be alone during the match. His on-screen friend cum boss Shane McMahon should be there at ringside to assure his buddy’s victory. Even Elias and The Revival could also make their presence felt to cost Reigns the match.
