Jeff Hardy received another chance to capture the US Championship at Summerslam. He repeatedly reminded us of losing a part of his body at Extreme Rules. It was nothing but the US Championship itself which was really special for him. Shinsuke Nakamura gave a low blow to win it from him.
He got his US Championship rematch on Smackdown Live a few weeks ago. But Randy Orton entered the scene to cost him the match. For whatever reasons, The Viper has targeted Jeff Hardy ever since coming back to the WWE, last month. He has promised to erase the Charismatic Enigma from the WWE.
We have seen the hellacious beatdowns that he’s been delivering to Jeff Hardy on a constant basis. He is due with the payback to Randy Orton. But the due US Championship rematch at Summerslam was his first priority last night. Orton lurking in between the match was a pretty-much expected thing.
So Jeff Hardy had to go with a proper strategy knowing two opponents are waiting for him. Fortunately for him, Randy Orton didn’t bother to interfere in this match. But it still did not allow him to regain the US championship at Summerslam. The two opponents continued to play mind-games with each other from the get-go.
Shinsuke Nakamura was the first to mock Jeff Hardy with the face-paints. Hardy gave it back with the crazy poses that Nakamura makes during the entrance. These two started the match brawling at the corner of the ring. Jeff Hardy ate a big kick into the jaw from Nakamura. He followed it up with a running and jumping knee on his opponent’s face.

Jeff Hardy wanted to make a comeback with a modified Sling Blade. But Nakamura came back with a knee to the back of the Hardy. Hardy came back with a clothesline. Thereafter, he was able to hit the Whisper in the Wind to the delight of the Summerslam fans. He hit a modified Twist of Fate setting up for the Swanton Bomb.
The Charismatic Enigma was able to hit it successfully. But Nakamura grabbed the bottom rope to break the pinfall attempt. Jeff Hardy went for another Swanton Bomb on the ring apron. But this time, Shinsuke Nakamura moved from his position. He connected with a Kinshasa to get the win, right away.
Nakamura was able to retain the US Championship at Summerslam by virtue of this move. Randy Orton showed up after the match teasing an attack to Jeff Hardy. But he went back to the backstage instead of doing so. The segment ended with Jeff Hardy recovering from the Kinshasa.
