In a major announcement on this week’s Smackdown, commentator Wade Barrett announced not one but two Fatal-4-Way matches at Wrestlemania 39. While specific stakes around these matches were not revealed, apparently, there will be qualifying matches on WWE’s weekly shows to determine the match participants.
In the first such match, Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez competed and ultimately defeated the team of Tegan Nox and Emma to confirm their spots at Wrestlemania 39. After Raquel planted Emma with the Texana Bomb, Morgan picked up the pinfall win over Emma by hitting her with the Oblivion finisher.
Wrestlemania 39: WWE Confirms Huge Triple Threat Championship Match
Now that the women’s tag team champions Becky Lynch and Lita are booked in a different tag team match against DAMAGE CTRL at Wrestlemania 39 instead of defending their belts against the former speculated opponents, Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler, the latter duo are likely to be a part of the Fatal-4-Way match where the winners should secure a future title match opportunity.
Wrestlemania 39: Major Hell In A Cell Match Officially Confirmed On WWE Raw
Dave Meltzer recently reported on Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the planned Women’s Tag Team Title match is off the WrestleMania 39 card. However, he noted that Rousey was still on the show in a different match. As a follow-up, WWE confirmed the Fatal-4-Way which should see Rousey back in competition from an arm injury.
As for the first qualifiers to the Fatal-4-Way at Wrestlemania 39, Liv Morgan has the prior experience of becoming a champion when she cashed in her Money in the Bank contract on Ronda Rousey to become Smackdown Women’s Champion at the Money in the Bank PLE, itself.
Raquel also had the opportunity to call herself a champion when she and Aliyah became WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions during an episode of Raw last August by defeating Damage CTRL’s Dakota Kai and IYO SKY. But they dropped the title to the same team, a couple of weeks later.
