While Australia won their fourth Cricket World Cup trophy as well as third successive Cricket World Cup trophy in the 2007 ODI World Cup, their opener Matthew Hayden performed impressively in that entire tournament. The most run-scorer of that tournament, Hayden scored 659 runs in 10 innings with an average of 73.22. The left-handed batsman smashed three centuries and one more half-century in that tournament.
Hayden started that tournament with the 60 runs knock against Scotland during their opening match of the Group Stage (at Basseterre on 14th March 2007). In their last Group Stage match against South Africa, Hayden scored firing 101 runs off just 68 balls (at Basseterre on 24th March 2007).
