Five Famous Personalities Who Can Buy Two New IPL Teams

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 edition has culminated in a thrilling note when Mumbai Indians (MI) beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by one run, to lift the record fourth title at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad (SRH).

With eight teams competing in the lucrative Tweny20 league, the owners have further emerged as the ‘pillar of the strength’ for such domestic professional leagues in the cricketing world, in particular.

Owners had played a pivotal role in shaping up teams with a couple of teams somewhat being co-owned. Preity Zinta alongside Ness Wadia, Mohit Burman and Karan Paul are co-owning the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP).

Besides, Shah Rukh Khan owns two-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) apart from Jay Mehta and Juhi Chawla.

With Rohit Sharma-led Indians owned by Nita Ambani and CSK is availed by N. Srinivasan, who has India Cements Limited – a cement manufacturing company to his name.

Furthermore, Rajasthan Royals had been owned by Manoj Badale, who had his shares in Blenheim Chalcot.

Delhi Capitals is represented by the GMR Group and JSW respectively.

Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is hosted by United Spirits Limited, the beverages company based in India. It’s the subsidiary for Diageo, which caters in the United Kingdom.

Also, Kalanithi Maran of Sun Network has established the one-time IPL champion, Hyderabad.

Sanjeev Goenka:

Sanjiv Goenka, who is the chairman of RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, has already owned now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) for two editions of the IPL in 2016 and 2017 respectively.

The 58-year-old Goenka had a wealth of experience as a business tycoon. Thus, his company stands a chance of investing in the IPL team.

In 2016, MS Dhoni had led Rising Pune Supergiant before Steven Smith led the team under the tutelage of head coach Stephen Fleming. They ended up as runners-up in 2017 against Indians.

Until January 2017-2018, the net worth of the industrial conglomerate company has been recorded as US$3.3 billion.

Keshav Bansal:

The renowned Indian entrepreneur, who is serving as the director of Intex Technologies had owned the Gujarat Lions at the age of 24.

Bansal had brought Lions in 2016 which also made him youngest owner in the IPL history.

However, the Rajkot-based team had got defunct after the return of Rajasthan Royals following two-year hiatus in 2018.

Meanwhile, Bansal has the bet worth of over 12 billion recorded in 2018. The avid follower of cricket would be keen to have a team in the IPL.

Abhishek Bachchan:

Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan, who had worked in different movies, has also tried his hand in sports ventures.

Abhishek had brought Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League (ISL). Well, it is purely based on the joint-partnership. He had also owned Jaipur Pink Panthers in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL).

Thus, considering his willingness to take part in owning the teams somewhat doubles up.

The Ahmedabad-based Adani Group, which boasts about hosting over 12,000 employees, has recorded over 27 billion assets in the fiscal year 2017.

Furthermore, Gautam Adani had founded the multinational conglomerate company in 1988.

Meanwhile, Adani Group could be one of such impactful companies which could further proceed to have their own IPL team.

In the past, Adani Group had shown interest in the sports initiatives. Thus, Gujarat Fortune Giants came into being in 2017 KPL.

Wave Group –  Manpreet Chadha

Manpreet Singh Chadha, who had his shares in the Wave Group, has owned Delhi-based franchise in the Hockey India League (HIL).

Moreover, his late father Ponty Chadha himself saw the inclusion of his industry had gone well into the sports arena.

Despite the split for assets, Wave Group is one of the business conglomerates could make it to into the IPL.

Concurrently, Monty is serving as the vice-chairman with Rajinder Singh Chadha serving as the chairman.
