India Vs Sri Lanka 2019/20: First T20I – India’s Predicted XI

Indian national cricket team is ready to begin the new year (2020). Their first game of this year is the Guwahati T20I against Sri Lanka, and they will play this match on Sunday (5th January) at Barsapara Stadium.

The hosts India and the visitors Sri Lanka will play the three-match T20I series between 5th and 10th January 2020, and the Guwahati T20I is their opening game of this series.

Here is the predicted XI for India for the upcoming Guwahati T20I.

KL Rahul

India, Predicted XI

The opening batsman KL Rahul is not only performing consistently but has also started to perform strongly in back-to-back matches. Moreover, he is currently playing better cricket in the shortest format, where he has scored three 50s in the last four T20Is.

Shikhar Dhawan

The left-handed experienced opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan missed the home limited-overs series against West Indies due to the leg injury. Though in the last some T20s Dhawan has performed consistently, his batting strike-rate has fallen, and he is losing wickets after getting settled down. However, after returning from the recent leg injury, Dhawan brought a huge relief in the Indian team after scoring a century in a Ranji Trophy match.

Virat Kohli (C)

Captain Virat Kohli is currently in the great unstoppable form with the bat. While Rohit Sharma is not participating in this T20I series, Kohli has the best chance to become the most run-scorer in T20I history as both are leading this table jointly after each scoring 2,633 T20I runs. The Indian captain is looking to start this important year with a bang.

In the middle-order batting, Shreyas Iyer has impressed with his recent batting performances. If he gets enough time to bat, he is hardly disappointing his fans.

Manish Pandey

India, Predicted XI

The 30-year-old Manish Pandey hugely impressed in the domestic cricket in late 2019. He was very consistent with the bat in the domestic limited-overs tournaments. Though he hasn’t got enough chances in the last year, the wait can be ended soon as the team needs to sort out the middle-order batting.

Sanju Samson (wk)

While the team management has shown massive support to the young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson is still waiting to play his second international match. However, Samson can be selected in the playing XI in the very first international match of the year, because the team management needs to watch out the other players before the next ICC T20 World Cup that will begin in Australia in mid-October 2020.

Shivam Dube

India, Predicted XI

In his early international career, Shivam Dube has impressed with his all-round skills in limited opportunities. However, he has now to showcase his consistency, which can develop him as a regular player for the national team.

Shardul Thakur

The right-arm pacer Shardul Thakur ended the last year in a top way. He was the hero of the Indian national cricket team in the series-decider ODI against West Indies at Cuttack as his 17 not out off just six balls widely helped India to snatch a victory in that game as well as in that series. However, he has now to perform with the ball.

Jasprit Bumrah

The right-arm pacer Jasprit Bumrah has missed out cricket for the last four months due to the stress fracture in his lower back. India’s one of the topmost T20I wicket-takers Bumrah last played a T20I in February 2019. He has now returned to the squad after recovering from the injury, and the team is excited to welcome him in the playing XI.

Navdeep Saini

Another right-arm pacer Navdeep Saini made his T20I and ODI debuts in brilliant ways. He is now ready to face further tests on the national side.

Yuzvendra Chahal

In late 2019, the leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal impressed with his bowling skills. However, he still needs to be consistent, as some days, his performances don’t match with his actual skills.
