ToggleSunday (9th February) was the historic day in Bangladesh as their youth team clinched their first-ever trophy in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup. In the ICC U19 CWC 2020 final, Bangladesh U19 beat India U19 by three wickets (DLS method) and snatched the trophy.
The Bangladesh side sent the Indian team to bat first after winning the toss. While India U19 were bowled out for 177 runs, the Bangladesh U19 team fought brilliantly and chased down the revised target of 170 runs (46 overs) in 42.1 overs after losing seven wickets.
The Indian batsmen were struggling from the first over of the day. Apart from opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (88), no.3 batsman Tilak Varma (38) and wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel (22), all other Indian cricketers failed to reach the double-digit scores.

After the opener Divyansh Saxena (2) lost his wicket cheaply, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Varma handled the situation very well as they put the 94 runs partnership for the second wicket. But once that partnership was broken when India were batting on 103 runs, their next wickets were falling at regular intervals. Especially after Jaiswal’s dismissal, the Indian team lost their last six wickets in just 21 runs.
Among the Bangladesh bowlers, Avishek Das (3/40) claimed three wickets, Shoriful Islam (2/31) and Tanzim Hasan Sakib (2/28) got two wickets each, and Rakibul Hasan (1/29) picked up one wicket.

Parvez Hossain Emon and Akbar Ali played big roles for the victory of Bangladesh U19
In reply, Bangladesh U19 got a very good start with the 50 runs opening partnership between the openers Parvez Hossain Emon and Tanzid Hasan. But after Tanzid was dismissed, the Indian team returned strongly to the game with the regular wickets.
When Bangladesh U19 were batting on 62/2, the opener Emon was retired hurt on 25 runs. Later, when his side was struggling on 102/6, he returned to the crease despite his struggle in his leg and played brave cricket along with his captain Akbar Ali. Akbar and Emon had the crucial 41 runs partnership for the seventh wicket before Jaiswal dismissed Emon for 47 runs (79 balls).

However, Akbar Ali stood still at the crease and put the 20 runs partnership with Rakibul Hasan for the unbroken eighth wicket before the rain stopped the play. During that rain-interruption, Bangladesh U19 were batting on 163/7 (41 overs), and they were 18 runs ahead from the DLS target at that stage.
The rain stopped soon, and the new revised target for Bangladesh U19 was 170 runs in 46 overs. After that game restarted, they chased down that target in just seven balls. Captain Akbar Ali was not out on 43 runs (77 balls), and Rakibul Hasan was unbeaten on nine runs.
Among the Indian bowlers, Ravi Bishnoi (4/30) scalped four wickets while Sushant Mishra (2/25) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (1/15) took two and one wickets respectively.
