India Vs Windies 2019/20: Second T20I – India’s Predicted XI
On Sunday (8th December), the hosts India will face the visiting side Windies in the second game of the three-match T20I series at Greenfield International Stadium (Thiruvananthapuram).
India is leading this series by 1-0 with two to go. In the first game of this series at Hyderabad on last Friday (6th December) night, Windies scored 207/5 (20 overs) in the first innings after winning the toss. In reply, the hosts chased down their record T20I target in 18.4 overs after losing four wickets, thanks to the dominant batting from the captain Virat Kohli (94*) and the opener KL Rahul (62).
Here is the predicted XI for India for the upcoming Thiruvananthapuram T20I.
The opener Rohit Sharma had a bad day in office during the Hyderabad T20I where he scored just eight runs. The leading T20I run-scorer is surely desperate to perform better in the forthcoming T20I as he has failed to reach 25 runs mark in the last four innings.
The 27-year-old KL Rahul is returning in his familiar touch as he is now performing much better along with maintaining his consistency. Rahul has played two consecutive 50+ knocks in the last two T20I innings, including 62 runs in the Hyderabad T20I.
Virat Kohli (C)
In his T20I return, Indian captain Virat Kohli scored his highest T20I runs (94*) and it helped India to chase down their record T20I target comfortably. Kohli (2,544 runs) is chasing the leading T20I run-scorer Rohit Sharma (2,547 runs) as they have only three runs gap. In the last four T20I innings, Kohli has smashed three half-centuries.
On his birthday, Shreyas Iyer (4) failed to finish the Hyderabad T20I. The 25-year-old needs a few more proper opportunities to express himself properly in the international cricket arena.
Sanju Samson (wk)
It can be a significant change in the Indian playing XI as the local boy Sanju Samson may replace the struggling wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant. In recent times, Pant has failed to perform consistently, and he once again failed in the Hyderabad T20I where he scored 18 runs (9 balls). Meanwhile, Sanju Samson has earned the call-up in the national team with his recent impressive domestic performances. Though he hasn’t got the playing XI opportunities in the T20I series against Bangladesh, Pant’s continuous disappointment may open the golden chance for Sanju Samson, who has played only T20I.
Since his T20I debut, the 26-year-old Shivam Dube has got very limited-opportunities. The player needs to get more opportunities before giving any remark on him.
There is no doubt that Ravindra Jadeja is currently in a superb form. The 31-year-old is now more effective on the field. While Ravindra Jadeja also celebrated his birthday during the Hyderabad T20I, he took one wicket in that game.
The right-arm pacer Deepak Chahar had totally different experiences in the last two T20Is. While he created a record of best T20I bowling figures in Nagpur T20I against Bangladesh, he achieved India’s third most expensive bowling figures in Hyderabad T20I. However, he is in good form at present, and one poor performance can’t destroy his credibility.
After around four months, the right-arm pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has just returned to the national squad during the Hyderabad T20I. He was ok in his international return.
The left-arm chinaman Kuldeep Yadav has struggled in this year. He last played the T20I in last February during India tour of New Zealand. However, the team management has enough faith in this youngster, and he can replace Washington Sundar for the upcoming T20I.
The leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal (52 wickets) is just one wicket away to become the leading T20I wicket-taker for India. At present, he is playing a useful role in Indian bowling.
I’ve a World Cup Left in Me: Robin Uthappa Hopeful to Play T20 World Cup
Robin Uthappa had a dream-like beginning in the international cricket, but soon he vanished away from the team’s batting order because of the emergence of better cricketers than him. However, Uthappa Still believes that there can be a chance of his comeback and he can…
