IPL 2019: We Always Play Well In The Second Half Of The Tournament – Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma, Mumbai Indians,

What an incredible ride it has been for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League 2019. After starting the season on a losing note, they pulled things back dramatically to finish on top of the points table. Meanwhile, the skipper Rohit Sharma makes his voice on the impeccable victory to finish on the top.

Initially, it was Lasith Malinga, who bowled brilliantly to rattle the stumps of Kolkata Knight Riders more often than not. He was equally supported by the other bowlers in the team coupled with the brilliant captaincy by Rohit Sharma.

In reply to the chase, Rohit Sharma and de Kock started things on a positive note for the team. Despite the wicket of Quinton, Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma ensured the finish of the match.

Bowlers used the pitch well – Rohit Sharma

Speaking of the victory, Rohit Sharma quoted that he is pleased with the team effort. He also lauded the brilliant spell of bowling from Lasith Maling and the other bowlers, who helped the team to restrict under 140 runs on such a pitch.

”It was the team effort that pleased me the most. We don’t depend on a few individuals to take us through, there are a lot of characters who put their hand up and take us through. Today, the entire bowling attack used the pitch and their variations really well to keep a line up like KKR quiet. It is something we know about the IPL that the business end matters, we always come back well in the second half of this tournament.”

The boys have picked up themselves in the end:

Further, Rohit Sharma highlighted the fact that the boys always came good for Mumbai Indians in the business end of the tournament. He believes that they will repeat the same in the playoff stage as well.

”In all the three trophies that we’ve won, the boys have picked themselves up in the business end. IPL is a funny tournament, any team can beat the other on a day and we want to take few tiny steps.”

Rohit Sharma also had a word on his daughter. He dedicated his fifty to his daughter, who is coming to watch the game regularly.

”My daughter has been coming here every day to watch me play, but I didn’t get a lot of runs earlier. It was nice to get some runs today, but she was sleeping!”

All in all, it has been a brilliant season so far for the team. Now, they will head back to Chennai to take on the home team Chennai Super Kings in the Qualifier 1,  where one of the both will take final berth.
