On Wednesday (7th October), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 21st match of the IPL 2020 at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium (Abu Dhabi).

Kolkata Knight Riders captain Dinesh Karthik decided to bat first after winning the toss and they managed to score 167 runs in 20 overs. In reply, Chennai Super Kings only managed to score 157/5 (20 overs).

  • It is the joint-second most number of catches for a wicket-keeper in an IPL innings. Former Sri Lankan wicket-keeper Kumar Sangakkara is holding the record of taking 5 catches for Deccan Chargers against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Hyderabad (Deccan) on 14th April 2011.

ii) MS Dhoni has taken 104 IPL catches as a wicketkeeper.

  • During the first innings of the match, surpassing Dinesh Karthik (103 catches), MS Dhoni became the most catch taker as a wicket-keeper in IPL history. However, in the next innings, Karthik equalled that record.

i) Caribbean cricketer Dwayne Bravo has taken 121 T20 wickets for Chennai Super Kings.

  • Dwayne Bravo becomes the most T20 wicket-taker for CSK after surpassing their former teammate Ravichandran Ashwin, who took 120 T20 wickets for this team.

ii) Caribbean right-arm pacer Dwayne Bravo completed his 150 IPL wickets.

  • Dwayne Bravo became the second overseas bowler to take 150 IPL wickets. Sri Lankan right-arm pacer Lasith Malinga (170 wickets) was the first overseas bowler to claim 150 IPL wickets.
  • After Lasith Malinga, Dwayne Bravo became the second pacer to take 150 IPL wickets.
