ToggleIn the 53rd match of the IPL 2020, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) comfortably beat Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by nine wickets at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium (Abu Dhabi).
Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to field first. KXIP managed to score 153/6 (20 overs) at the end of the first innings. In reply, CSK chased down that target easily in 18.5 overs after losing only one wicket.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) innings
CSK openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis set up a very good start as they put the solid 82 runs partnership for the opening wicket. In the 10th over of that innings, Chris Jordan finally broke that opening partnership after dismissing Du Plessis for 48 runs 34 balls (4 fours and 2 sixes). In the early period of that chasing, Ruturaj completed his 1000 T20 runs, who was playing 34th T20 innings.
But another opener Ruturaj and Ambati Rayudu controlled the next situation very well as they built up another strong 72 runs partnership for the unbroken second wicket and CSK comfortably chased the target.
Ruturaj completed his fifty in 38 balls. While he scored 62 not out off 49 balls (6 fours and only six), Rayudu scored 30 not out off 30 balls (2 fours).

Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) innings
KXIP openers Mayank Agarwal and captain KL Rahul put the 48 runs partnership for the first wicket inside the powerplay as Lungi Ngidi bowled Mayank (26 runs) in the sixth over of that innings. Since then, the KXIP hugely struggled their next wickets fell at regular intervals.
While opener and skipper Rahul scored 29 runs and became the next batsman to get dismissed, the middle-order batsman Deepak Hooda was the only other batsman to score 20+ runs in that innings as his batting majorly helped KXIP to set up a challenging total in the first innings.
At one stage, KXIP were struggling on 113/6 in 17.1 overs. However, Hooda lately produced firing batting performance that helped him to complete his half-century in just 26 balls. He scored 62 not out off 30 balls (3 fours and 4 sixes) at the end of that first innings.
Among the CSK bowlers, only Lungi Ngidi managed to pick up more than one wicket in that innings as he has the bowling figures of 4-0-39-3.
