As the days are passing by, the Indian Premier League (IPL) start date has come close, increasing the excitement among the fans. The first clash will be between the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on 29th March at Wankhede Stadium.

Indians led by Rohit Sharma is the most successful IPL team – to lift four titles; 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019. Well, there is a fact which is famous among fans and eventually doesn’t make Mumbai hot favourites – to lift the famous trophy this season.

MI has been successful in odd years as they have failed to lift the trophy in even years. But because of dubious fact, we can not say that is out of the competition. Their team is full of match-winners which can change the scenario of the game.

Jasprit Bumrah:

India’s premier bowler is the finding of IPL. After having a trial for MI, he was drafted in the franchise’s squad in 2013 and since then, he has become a vital part of the team.

Bumrah has progressed and learnt from the Mumbai Indians’ Lasith Malinga, who helped him to nourish his skills. And now, he is known as one of the dangerous bowlers in the international platform.

The yorker king is a reliable bowler who can give breakthroughs to the team and can bring out them from a tough situation.

Currently, the player has struggled to pick the wickets but his last performance in the Test series against New Zealand has sent the message that he is back again.

So far, he has played 77 matches for MI and picked 82 wickets at a striking rate of 7.55.

Quinton de Kock:

The wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock has staggering records.

Last time when South Africa toured India, de Kock was the captain and he helped his team, who was under transition period – to level the three-match T20I series.

The South African cricketer was bought by MI ahead of the IPL 2019 auction. The opening batsman contribution had led the team – to reach the finals of 2019 and lift the title.

Currently, he is at the best phase of his career as he has earned the captaincy post in ODIs and T20Is. In the ongoing series against Australia, his stats are staggering.

Thus, he can again prove as a game-changer for the defending champions. He has played 16 matches for the Mumbai team and has scored 529 runs at an average of 35.26 at a strike rate of 132.91.

Rohit Sharma:

There is no doubt about his capability as the captain. Rohit Sharma has led four times his team to the victory which proves that he has excellent captaincy skills.

India regular is a prolific run-getter who gives match-winning start to the team, setting up a partnership with the de Kock. His best as the captain came out in 2015 when the team won just one of their first six games and were struggling to stay afloat. He turned the game for Mumbai and then – to lift the title of IPL 2015.

They had up and down season in 2018 but they make a strong comeback in 2019 and defeated CSK in the finals. And the upcoming edition will kick off with the two successful teams clashing.

The first game will surely set the tone for the two teams.
