Though the former Indian World Cup-winning captain MS Dhoni hasn’t played a cricket match since last July, his IPL teammates don’t doubt his intensity to serve for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2020. His new CSK teammate Piyush Chawla has also confirmed it.

The wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni, who is one of the huge favourite cricketers among the many cricket fans in the world, last time played a cricket match during the semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. After that defeat against New Zealand, Dhoni has never made himself available for the game. However, before the COVID-19 or coronavirus has forced to postpone the IPL 2020, Dhoni joined the CSK camp to begin his preparation for the tournament.

Though many doubted Dhoni’s present status for cricket due to his absence from the game for a long time, he showed his full energy during the practice session in the CSK camp.

MS Dhoni was showing match-like intensity in the way he was batting and keeping: Piyush Chawla

The 31-year-old Piyush Chawla, who was a team member during MS Dhoni-led Indian team’s victory in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, has been bought by CSK during the 2020 IPL auction for INR 6.75 crore. During the practice session in the CSK camp, Chawla experienced full-focused Dhoni who was showing match-like intensity with his batting and keeping.

Chawla claimed in the official website of CSK, “Mahi Bhai was absolutely focused, training purposefully and was looking really good. He was showing match-like intensity in the way he was batting and keeping and that was rubbing off on the others.”

The leg-spinner Piyush Chawla is a very popular cricketer in IPL. Before joining to his latest IPL team CSK, he also served for Kings XI Punjab (KXIP; 2008-2013) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR; 2014-2019). Chawla is the joint-third most wicket-taker in IPL history as the leg-spinner has taken 150 wickets in 157 matches.

On the other hand, the IPL 2020 was initially scheduled to be played between 29th March and 24th May 2020. But while the coronavirus is dominating the world and has forced to postpone many events worldwide, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has postponed the IPL 2020. As the situation hasn’t been controlled in the country or world, the future of IPL 2020 is still uncertain.
