On Monday (19th October) evening, the 39-year-old former Indian captain MS Dhoni became the second captain in Indian Premier League (IPL) history to score 4000 runs for a team.

It was the 37th match of the IPL 2020 between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium (Abu Dhabi), where CSK captain MS Dhoni decided to bat first after winning the toss.

MS Dhoni completed 4000 IPL runs as a CSK captain in 152nd innings

Before this match, Dhoni scored 3994 runs in 169 IPL matches (151 innings) for CSK, where he played all the matches as a captain. So, the right-handed wicket-keeper batsman was the only six runs away to become the second IPL captain to score 4000 runs for a team.

Dhoni reached this feat on Monday evening which was his 152nd IPL innings (170th IPL match) for CSK. While he was facing his 8th ball of the match after coming to bat at the no.5 position, Dhoni took three runs and completed his 4000 IPL runs for CSK as a captain. In that match, Dhoni scored 28 runs off 28 balls.
