The cricket world is eagerly waiting to know the future of MS Dhoni’s cricket career, who hasn’t played a cricket match since July 2019. Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman believes that Dhoni has enough ability to continue his IPL career for at least 2022 season.
The 38-year-old former Indian World Cup-winning captain MS Dhoni last time played for India during the heart-breaking semi-final defeat against New Zealand in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Since then, the wicketkeeper-batsman hasn’t played a cricket match yet as he has continuously made himself unavailable for the game.

While the future of his international cricket career is still doubtful due to the non-clarification, Dhoni has clarified his presence for the IPL 2020 after starting the practice with his IPL team Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Like every year, he was ready to lead CSK again in the IPL 2020, but the coronavirus has forced to postpone this tournament.
VVS Laxman feels that Dhoni is fit enough physically and mentally to continue his IPL career for at least 2022 edition.

During Star Sports’ Cricket Connected show, Laxman said, “I think, playing for CSK will keep him going because he’s supremely fit and age is just a number, and especially when someone like MS Dhoni is not only physically fit, but mentally very astute as a captain as a leader he enjoys leading the CSK franchise.
“Not only this IPL, he will probably play in the next couple of IPLs, and then we will take a call about his future as a cricketer.
“He’s been very successful doing that and as far as Dhoni’s cricket is concerned, I’m sure you’re looking forward to watching him play in the IPL.”
Recently, some CSK teammates have confirmed that Dhoni was entirely focused during the recent practice session in the CSK camp.
The new selection committee will have to sit down with MS Dhoni and understand his future: VVS Laxman
Talking about Dhoni’s future in international cricket, Laxman has claimed that the new selection committee needs to decide on this after talking with the senior wicketkeeper-batsman. However, Laxman is confident that Dhoni will successfully lead CSK for more years.

Laxman added, “The new selection committee will have to sit down with MS Dhoni and understand his future, as far as Indian cricket is concerned. But MS Dhoni will continue to play for CSK and do well for CSK.”
The Indian team management hasn’t clarified their present position on MS Dhoni. Earlier, the Head Coach Ravi Shastri hinted that Dhoni might complete his ODI career, but his T20I future would be depended on the performances in the IPL 2020. Whereas, some believe that Dhoni can feature in the 2020 T20 World Cup if he remains consistent in the IPL 2020.
