Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer feels that the former Indian World Cup-winning captain MS Dhoni is still an asset for the Indian team if he is fit and in-form. Jaffer also believes that Dhoni, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant can even play together for India.
Nowadays, when anyone talks about the Indian team, MS Dhoni mostly comes in the talk. The 38-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman last played a cricket match in last July during the semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. After then, there is no clarification about his future in cricket.
Some close people of him, including the Indian Head Coach Ravi Shastri, have revealed that Dhoni still wants to serve for India. Dhoni recently started practice for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) targeting the IPL 2020. However, in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, the IPL 2020 and the teams’ camps have been postponed.
If the BCCI cancels the entire IPL 2020 due to the coronavirus, the Indian cricket fans will miss the opportunity to see Dhoni on the cricket field. Then it will raise a big question on Dhoni’s future in international cricket.
Wasim Jaffer feels MS Dhoni, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant can play together in the same team
However, Wasim Jaffer, who recently retired from cricket, feels that Dhoni’s return to the national team will be no issue if he is fit and in-form. Jaffer believes that Dhoni is still an asset of the team.
The former Indian opening batsman thinks that Dhoni’s presence will reduce the keeping pressure for KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant can be also fit in this team as a left-handed batsman.
On his official Twitter account, Jaffer gave his view on it by posting, “If Dhoni is fit and in form I think we can’t look beyond him as he’ll be an asset behind the stumps and also lower down the order. It’ll take the pressure of keeping off Rahul and India can play Pant as a batsman too if they want a lefty.”

According to Ravi Shastri and some media reports, Dhoni’s international future will be depended on his performances during the IPL 2020.
If he performs well in this tournament, he can guide the national team in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2020 which Australia will host from 18th October to 15th November 2020.
