Wasim Jaffer Reveals His All Time IPL XI

Former Indian Test specialist cricketer Wasim Jaffer, who recently retired from the game, has revealed his all-time IPL playing XI team.
Wasim Jaffer was one of the greatest batsmen in Indian cricket history who achieved many first-class records in his long cricket career, including scoring the most runs in Ranji Trophy history. Despite massive success in domestic cricket, Jaffer only played 31 Tests and two ODIs for India.
Jaffer wasn’t very famous in limited-overs cricket, especially in the T20 format (but his List A record was very well). He served for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL 2008 and 2009 where he played eight matches and scored 130 runs (average 16.25), including one half-century.
Wasim Jaffer picked up a 12-member IPL squad, MS Dhoni is the captain
Recently, a fan asked him for his all-time playing XI in the IPL history. Jaffer not only named the playing XI also added another Indian cricketer as the 12th member of the squad.
Among the four overseas cricketers, Jaffer named two Caribbeans, one Afghanistan and one Sri Lankan cricketer. Jaffer chose West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle as his opener and another West Indies cricketer Andre Russell as the pace-bowling all-rounder, who could also bat in the no.6 position.
Apart from the Afghan leg-spinner Rashid Khan, the legendary Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga is also in Jaffer’s favourite IPL playing XI team. Malinga is the most wicket-taker in IPL history.
In Jaffer’s squad, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma is the opening partner of Gayle. The next two batsmen in this team are the top two most run-scorers in IPL history, Suresh Raina (second-most IPL run-scorer) and Virat Kohli (most IPL run-scorer).
Jaffer selected MS Dhoni as the captain and wicketkeeper-batsman of his dream IPL team. Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have won three IPL trophies (second-most successful captain) but never finished behind the top four.
The Indian pace-bowling all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been selected in the no.7 batting position in this IPL team. Among the Indian bowlers, the off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and pacer Jasprit Bumrah are also present in this list. The 12th man in Jaffer’s squad is the all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who is an effective left-handed batsman, left-arm spinner and fielder.
