Online rumors have been running rampant about the WWE Hall of Famer Sting as he could potentially be working with AEW later this month. Apparently, his WWE deal has come to an end which may allow him to sign a deal with the rival promotion of the WWE. But the reality seems to be very different as there’s barely any truth to the speculation.

Rumors suggested that Sting will be the one to present the new AEW TNT Championship to the winner of Cody Rhodes vs. Lance Archer matchup in the tournament finale. It takes place at the AEW Double Or Nothing pay-per-view on May 23rd. This could have been a bigger surprise for the company’s fanbase. But that’s not likely to happen, going by a reliable source.

PWInsider.com reports that multiple sources close to Sting have been denying the rumors of the legendary superstar appearing on behalf of AEW. Previously, Bret Hart appeared in an AEW PPV to present the World Championship after which WWE disconnected themselves from the Hart Dynasty member. But they won’t have to do something similar for The Stinger.

Pro Wrestling Sheet did report that Sting is no longer under contract with WWE, but that doesn’t mean that the two parties won’t have a sitdown for a talk that could result in a new merchandise contract to move forward with. Who knows if WWE also wants to keep the former WCW franchise player under their banner with a slight chance of his in-ring career getting resumed.

Speculations for Sting and AEW speculation began after Mattel removed the legend from a new WWE series of action figures, at the last minute. Sting then also become part of a Twitter exchange with Lance Archer to which Cody Rhodes responded to. Cody also responded to a tweet after Sting was pulled from the WWE action figure series by Mattel.

For those who don’t remember, Sting made his WWE debut at the Survivor Series pay-per-view in November 2014. After performing in a couple of PPV matches in 2015, he was inducted into the Hall Of Fame in 2016 after suffering a career-ending neck concussion. His last WWE appearance happened during the February 25, 2019 episode of Raw he appeared in Ric Flair’s 70th birthday celebration.
