WWE SmackDown Preview (24/01/20): Contract Signing, Huge Tag Team Match
One of the most exciting weekends in the WWE schedule begins from tonight with another packed edition of SmackDown that will lead us to Royal Rumble. This is the final taped show before the first pay-per-view of the decade where the last-minute hypes will be reserved.
With that being said, a huge six-man tag team match has been confirmed for the show featuring Roman Reigns who gangs up with his cousins to take on the three bonafide heels of the blue brand.
That’s not the only segment official on the show as a contract signing segment will also go down to make the Universal Championship match official for this Sunday. The champion and the challenger will come face to face on a rare occasion.
Also, the participants of the Royal Rumble match will look forward to gaining some momentums when SmackDown comes live, at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
Daniel Bryan is the first and only superstar in the WWE who’s trying to resist the inhuman antics played by The Fiend with his great wisdom. Last week, his former tag team partner, Kane was brought back to summon The Fiend so that Bryan could seek redemption on him from behind. He was successful to some extent by hitting a Running Knee and snatching some hair off The Fiend’s head before the latter escaped through a hole below the ring.
WWE gives another chance to the challenger to pounce on the champion on tonight’s SmackDown as they will be confronting each other. Daniel Bryan and Universal Champion “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt will be present in the ring for a contract signing to make their Royal Rumble Strap Match official as per the announcement,
“Daniel Bryan is ready to tie his WWE destiny to “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt – both literally and figuratively. Bryan and Wyatt will meet on Friday Night SmackDown to sign the contract for the Universal Championship Strap Match at Royal Rumble. Tune in to Friday Night SmackDown to see Bryan and Wyatt come face to face at 8/7 C on FOX.”
Will Bryan use the opportunity to a big extent or Wyatt’s mind games prevail? We’ll have to find out on SmackDown.
Last week’s SmackDown ended with an emphatic message from Roman Reigns as he hit a ‘glorious’ spear to Robert Roode through a table whereas The Usos hit dueling dives sending Dolph Ziggler breaking through the announce table. This win over Roode allowed Reigns to choose the stipulation of his Royal Rumble showdown with King Corbin as a Falls Count Anywhere Match as he vowed to provide a brutal beatdown all over around the Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas.
Problems for the 2019 King of the Ring winner continues as he will have to face The Big Dog in a multi-person match. As confirmed on WWE.com, Roman Reigns and The Usos will ‘look to humble’ the rivals King Corbin, Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode in a huge six-man tag team match which is being promoted as the main event for tonight’s SmackDown.
We now have an official number one contender for the SmackDown Women’s Championship in the form of Lacey Evans who is riding high on momentums. Not only Lacey was able to put her hands on Sasha Banks after the latter’s verbal assaults on her daughter but also she pinned the champion in a non-title match to earn a championship shot at Royal Rumble.
She’d like to continue the momentums heading into this Sunday’s pay-per-view event keeping in mind that Sasha Banks could be lurking in to seek redemption. The Boss Lady does not get along well when her ego is hurt. Lacey left her in an incompetent state that should infuriate her from inside. So she might try to hurt Lacey back so that her best friend Bayley gets the upper-hand before Royal Rumble.
Speaking of Rumble, we expect more female names from SmackDown to enter the 30-woman melee. Only two of them have been confirmed from the blue brand which is not enough to raise the stakes.
Meanwhile, several other names from the men’s division are confirmed to compete in their version of Royal Rumble as we expect to witness a preview of what’s to expect on this Sunday night during the prestigious match to pick the WrestleMania main-eventer.
