The Undertaker is slated to face AJ Styles in a “Boneyard Match” at WrestleMania 36. This is the first of its kind match in WWE history. AJ was the one to name the stipulation on last week’s episode of Monday Night Raw where he looks forward to burying his opponent, forever. He even mentioned that Undertaker may just die inside the ring while competing in this match.
Kevin Owens Vs. Seth Rollins – Who’s Favorite To Win At WWE Wrestlemania 36?
Apparently, there’s a reason why WWE may have been building this storyline in a unique way where the Deadman character is not getting that much relevance than his real-life character of Mark Callaway.
Before this angle, it was never mentioned on live TV that The Undertaker is a married man with former Divas Champion Michelle McCool. Pictures of the couple were also shown by AJ Styles for good reasons.
Spoiler On NFL Veteran Rob Gronkowski’s WWE Debut Match
It was earlier reported that The Undertaker could be undergoing a character change in WWE. Tom Colohue has now reported that the current Deadman character could become extinct after he becomes 24-3 at WrestleMania 36. It means he would probably end up taking a loss to AJ Styles at the grandest stage of them all.
The Phenomenal One would then become the third name after Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns to defeat Taker in his holy ground.
Perhaps, it would be a way to kill this dark character played by The Undertaker since 2004. Perhaps, WWE Universe has seen enough of the reaper and it’s time to get something new out of him. Here’s more from the source,
“The way this is playing out, it’s very possible AJ Styles may win and The Undertaker may briefly vanish again, before coming out and emerging as a new version entirely, which will be fitting for The Undertaker’s last run, which he is considering taking up very, very soon.
A new evolution, to begin a new chapter, which would be something new entirely.
He does seem to be performing a lot better in the ring recently and I do think he still has a lot left to give. He certainly agrees on that regard, so let’s see where it goes next.” (courtesy wwfoldschool.com)
Once The Deadman gimmick is over, we expect to see The American Badass back on TV after almost 16 years. The good news for The Undertaker is that he won’t be retiring, anytime soon.
Later this year, WWE plans to throw a huge celebration around Survivor Series as the legend completes 30 years in the company. We can expect him to see in competition in a couple of matches in between then.
