2019 has been an interesting year in WWE by all means as competitions were running high for the biggest pro-wrestling brand. They managed to survive once again with innovations and star powers. However, the lack of planning was still felt when it comes to building future superstars who will carry the load.
If you look at the below list, it’s evident that you’d feel that no such emerging superstars became significant in the bygone year. It’s the veterans who shone brightly. With that being said, here are the top 5 male superstars of 2019.
The franchise player of the WWE can’t be excluded from the list and especially after the comeback, he made at the beginning of the year. It was in February that Roman Reigns made his return to competition after overcoming the life-threatening disease Leukemia.
The motivational journey inspired many of his fans in real life which is much bigger than just winning in wrestling matches. Although he was not competing in the main event matches in 2019, the path to the top was not easy. And if reports are any indications then he would soon re-enter the title picture in time of WrestleMania.
He is the biggest box office attraction in the WWE whom we just can’t afford to keep away from the top 5 superstars’ list. Even at a year when he was rumored to leave the WWE, he continued to main-event in the PPVs, regularly. Plus, he won the Money in the Bank briefcase to win the Universal Championship.
That was not all as he won the WWE Title as well in October in a record time of just eight seconds. Now he is looking forward to heading into WrestleMania to feature in yet another marquee match.
The struggle of 11 years culminated at this year’s WrestleMania which we also called Kofi-mania for all the rightful reasons. This man with a brave heart deserved to be in a singles WWE title match for a long time.
WWE thus set up an emotional ride for the fans where the whole-heartedly supported Kofi Kingston to win the most prestigious title in sports entertainment. He followed up with a solid title run, thereafter that lasted until October 2019.
The Architect of the WWE has an eventful year which he started by winning the men’s Royal Rumble match in 2019. It led him to WrestleMania main event where he slew the beast incarnate to win the WWE Universal Championship.
If that was not all then he repeated the job at SummerSlam becoming the only star to defeat Brock Lesnar in two back to back matches in bigger PPVs.
Finally, as the year is closing in, Seth Rollins has turned heel responding to the fans’ reactions and thereby forming a force with AOP. If their dominance continues then we’re pretty sure Rollins will also be on the list of 2020, as well.
The Fiend Bray Wyatt
The revamped persona of Bray Wyatt has become a super hit amongst the WWE Universe. Since debuting at Summerslam, The Fiend gimmick has taken over the WWE which is protected, right now. He has competed only in three matches and became the nee Universal Champion on SmackDown.
Also, he is the number one merchandise seller of the company, as well. Moving forward, the new demonic character of the company may also end up being in the main event of WrestleMania 36.
