Maria Kanellis Calls Out WWE For Women’s History Month Snub
Unfortunately for Mike and Maria Kanellis, things didn’t work out well for them as they barely featured on TV regarding Mike’s addiction issue. Maria also got pregnant on two occasions forcing them to sit out of programming, for longer times. Overall, they didn’t do much during their time in WWE except than winning the 24/7 Championship storyline.
In one of the final storylines on WWE Raw, Maria Kanellis started berating his husband, Mike to label him as an embarrassment to be masculine. During a recent interview with FightFul.com, Mike shed an in-depth look on that storyline and who was the mind behind it, bringing tons of attention towards them.
Maria Kanellis Responds If She Would Ever Come Back To WWE
The former WWE superstar revealed that it was the Raw Executive Director Paul Heyman who originated the idea after hearing that Maria Kanellis was pregnant. Originally, the creative head of WWE RAW had called the couple to discuss a match featuring them two and the team of Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch. But he was forced to change the plans after learning that Maria was carrying a baby,
“We had just found out like two days ago we were pregnant we were just waiting for the right time you tell them. Maria was just like, ‘Paul I’ve known you a long time, I have to, I’m pregnant.’ He went, ‘alright. Well, this isn’t going to work then.
Then, in typical Paul Heyman fashion stops dead in his tracks and he goes, ‘I think I have an idea. Do you mind if I tell the boss?’ Maria went, ‘no we were going to eventually anyways.” memorized Mike Kanellis. “He goes, ‘alright I’ll call you back.’ He called his back and pitched the whole angle that we did.”
Mike was also asked whether he had a problem doing that storyline where his own wife Maria Kanellis was blasting him not being enough of a man, was a problem. He stated that neither he nor Maria had problems with the storyline as long as it was getting a proper conclusion.
Unfortunately for them, that was not the case. Maria Kanellis went into a hiatus due to the pregnancy causing Mike to become irrelevant on WWE programming, yet again. Mike and Maria Kanellis were then released from their contracts alongside numerous other stars, last month as part of the company’s budget cuts caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
