WWE Clash Of Champions 2019 Match Card, Preview & Prediction
After a hiatus for one year, Clash of Champions is set to make its return to the pay-per-view slate bringing an acid test to each of the champions present on the main roster. This is the specialty of this particular night of the year where every championship from the main roster remain up for grabs as the tile-holders will collide against the challengers in high-staked matchups.
The main event of 2019 Clash of Champions will feature Seth Rollins vs. Braun Strowman for the Universal Championship. This will be the first time that Seth defends his title after winning it at Summerslam. In a bizarre scenario, these two will also defend the tag team titles against a newly formed team. From SmackDown, the marquee match will witness the culmination of a highly personal rivalry where Kofi Kingston defends WWE Championship against Randy Orton. Apart from the title matches, there will be only one non-title bout featuring Roman Reigns in a No Disqualification affair that makes the show a must-watch.

Here’s a breakdown of the match card for Clash of Champions pay-per-view that takes place at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
SmackDown Tag Team Titles Match
The Revival vs. Big E and Xavier Woods (c)
The New Day’s sixth tag team title reign fell short as they could barely defend it in the recent weeks. On the other hand, their opponents, The Revival is having solid momentums on their side since they have started aligning with Randy Orton also calling it #FTRKO. Their systematic attack already caused injury to Xavier Woods, a few weeks ago. Plus, The Viper could be interfering the bout helping Dash and Dawson to become a three-time tag champ at Clash Of Champions which will also have an impact on the WWE Championship match, later the night.
RAW Tag Team Titles Match
Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode vs. Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins (c)
The sudden move of making Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman the tag team champions were done just to build up the Clash of Champions main event storyline. These two will lose the tag belts to another new team just to blame each other for the outcome so that a rift can be built prior to the Universal Championship match, later the night. There’s no point of keeping them as tag champs moving forward as these two singles competitors are not made for tag division, anyways.
SmackDown Women’s Title Match
Charlotte Flair vs. Bayley (c)
Clash of Champions takes place from the hometown of Charlotte Flair which previously indicated that a title change is imminent. Bayley’s title reign did not have any significance either needing someone to end it, at the earliest. But the sudden heel-turn by the champion changed the entire complexion of the Women’s Division. The heel duo of Sasha Banks and Bayley are said to be the most dangerous duo who can be the meanest if needed. Hence, Sasha’s interference seems evident in this match to keep Charlotte waiting for some more times from starting her record tenth title reign.
RAW Women’s Title Match
Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch (c)
The intensity of this title match at Clash Of Champions is so high as we predict this one to be the show-stealer of the night. Sasha Banks is returning to pay-per-view action after almost five months of hiatus in a high-caliber title match. So the chips on her shoulder would be high to deliver an A-grade match. Thankfully, she’s got one of her Four-Horsewomen members, Becky Lynch as her opponent that is bound to create good chemistry and thereby a match to remember. In the end, Becky still has the upper-hand to retain because this feud will continue and produce the second-ever Hell in a Cell match from the female roster.
WWE Intercontinental Title Match
The Miz vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (c)
The Miz has become synonymous to the Intercontinental Championship matches after having eight reigns with the title. Even he will admit how weak this storyline against Shinsuke Nakamura has been. A surprisingly odd pair of Sami Zayn and Nakamura are taking advantage of the numbers game and beating up The Miz for which barely makes any sense. The same story may continue at Clash Of Champions keeping away The Miz from his ninth reign. He is a superstar from Raw anyway which also hints that there won’t be any title changes happening in this match.
WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles Match
Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose vs. Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross (c)
After a dud championship run by The IIconics, the team of Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross have brought relevance back to the women’s tag team championships, thankfully. Now they will be competing against another team who are deserved candidates to win the titles, for a long time, too. Mandy and Sonya do have potentials to be great champions which means they have good chances to come out as the winner in this match. But the storyline has just begun and the challengers still do not have much momentum on their side to become champions. So we guess Bliss and Cross will somehow retain their championships by any means. But this feud will be continued for weeks to come, setting up a rematch that will finally allow Mandy-Sonya to call themselves, Champions.
WWE United States Title Match
Cedric Alexander vs. AJ Styles (c)
Cedric Alexander got the US title shot at Clash Of Champions, out of nowhere. Strowman was the originally reported name to face Styles. Bur WWE kept him out of the equation as he’d compete in two separate matches. The good thing is a youngster like Cedric gets the chance to wrestle the Phenomenal One in a PPV match. Both the highly agile superstars will deliver a classic match after which AJ should retain with the help from the OCs. But this match will pave way for Cedric to accomplish even greater things in the near future.
Roman Reigns vs. Erick Rowan-No Disqualification Match
The confusing yet interesting storyline on SmackDown has finally been able to create a pay-per-view match for Roman Reigns after he was absent from Summerslam. Putting Rowan against him is a good choice as the match will be put their strengths to test. The No-DQ stipulation will ensure that they tear each other apart using weapons which would be absolutely legal. Roman still has the advantage here as he is a big match player. But there could be a twist down the line dragging back Daniel Bryan to the angle to set up the due one-on-one matchup against Reigns. It should happen at Hell in a Cell.
WWE Title Match
Randy Orton vs. Kofi Kingston (c)
The rivalry between these two is pretty much organic considering the buildup of ten long years. Randy Orton had the upper-hand teaming up with The Revival. But Kofi bounced back on this past episode of SmackDown putting him through a table. This must be spreading good vibes for him despite the heel alliance standing as the opponents. We predict that Kofi will retain his championship defying all the odds. But his title will still be in jeopardy as Orton may continue to hunt him down at Hell in a Cell.
WWE Universal Title Match
Braun Strowman vs. Seth Rollins (c)
The main event of Clash of Champions started this fresh rivalry which garnered interest among the fans. They are enjoying this interesting scenario where the Monster among Men challenges the top-most superstar of the Monday Night Raw. Since this is the first defense of Rollins, chances are less that there will be a championship change. It is likely that Bray Wyatt may interfere in this match to disqualify the contest planting seeds to the anticipated Hell in a Cell match in October. No one between Rollins and Strowman will suffer the pinfall loss keeping their strong status intact.
