WWE News: Alexa Bliss Spoke On Women Wrestling In Saudi Arabia
Alexa Bliss and Sasha Banks broken barriers at one point of their career to spread women’s revolution. Back in 2017 December, these two wrestled each other at a house show in the United Arab Emirates. It was the first time ever that two ladies wrestled in a match in front of a live audience. It remained as a one-off example in the middle-east countries. However, things may change if she ends up wrestling Natalya on tonight’s WWE Super ShowDown.
As we all know, WWE has visited Saudi Arabia on a number of occasions for delivering pay-per-views. But the sports officials never have allowed female superstars to compete for their despite their global fanbase. The rule will be the same when WWE heads back to the country for June 7th for the Super ShowDown event. But as we reported earlier, discussions are heavy for a potential women’s division match.
Alexa Bliss recently appeared in an interview with Sky Sports to talk on a myriad of topics. One of them was the sensitive topic of women’s Wrestling in eastern countries. The former women’s champion received the question of whether she’d like to wrestle in Saudi Arabia. In reply, she came up with a positive answer,
“I would love to [have a match in Saudi Arabia]. I was very nervous at first with the match in Abu Dhabi because I didn’t know how we were going to be received but it was actually incredible.
The crowd was all for our women being there and having that title match. I had an amazing time and I would love to be able to have a match in Saudi Arabia if given the opportunity.
Because women have never competed there in any aspect there so it would be awesome to entertain there and break down barriers and it shows that our women’s evolution is global.”
Despite what superstars like Alexa Bliss think thinks of women’s wrestling, Saudi Arabia officials may stand on their strict stance. When it comes to orthodox rules, UAE and Saudi Arabia are miles apart. Hence, they’re not allowing female stars performing in the squared circle, all of a sudden. It could be a long time when Alexa Bliss may get the chance to wrestle there.
Speaking of The Goddess, we should mention that her career seemed to be in jeopardy. A concussion has forced her to miss Money in the Bank PPV after which she did not return to in-ring action. It was just the precautionary steps to keep her safe for sometimes as now she is back in the title picture on Smackdown.
