The beef between the WWE Universe and Saudi Arabia is not unknown to the company. They have to come up with Wrestlemania caliber matchups to fill up the card and thereby garner interest among the fans on this particular pay-per-view. However, the backlash still continues on social media. Some of the fans openly declared that they are not interested in Super ShowDown. Some of the superstars also boycotted the show that has Roman Reigns in the context, as well.

However, he decided to visit Saudi Arabia at the very last moment that put him in a match against Shane McMahon. But there were concerns about Roman Reigns visiting the middle-east country since he wanted to miss last time around. In case you don’t know, the franchise player of the company did not want to work in Crown Jewel back in November 2018 due to the Jamal Khashoggi controversy. Later, WWE has to pull him out of the show, anyway due to his Leukemia treatment.

The good news for Vince McMahon and Co. is that Roman Reigns agreed to work in Saudi Arabia, this time, around. Otherwise, WWE could have lost a marquee name in the PPV event and thereby a huge match. Recently, the Big Dog spoke to Newsweek on his decision to going back to Saudi Arabia despite “a lot of mixed and negative reactions.”

As clarified by the poster boy of the company, he still sees this visit to the country as a means to change the course in their environment. WWE is out there to set an example and the big names have to be active in order to do so. Being the flag-bearer of the company, he just could not sit back and watch the actions. Here are his exact comments regarding the visit, (courtesy ringsidenews.com)

“It gets a lot of mixed and negative reactions. The bottom line for me is if we’re going to help promote change if we’re going to set out to make an impact than I have to be a part of it. I’m not going to sit on the sideline and talk about how we can get there. I want to be a part of the action.”

“I look at it as being a part of the solution while still respecting cultures, but it’s a big world and I want to experience all of it. So if we can help make a positive impact that’s what we’re here to do. We’re here to put smiles on everyone’s faces. We don’t discriminate, that’s our goal to help and promote positivity and take that to every inch of the world.”

WWE’s deal with Saudi Arabia is intact for eight more years to come. So there will be plenty of such global shows in the country in the near future. So Roman Reigns will have to make plenty more of such trips in the following years. No matter what the public perception holds regarding the country, millions of dollars matter a lot to the company.
