WWE SmackDown Preview (17/01/19): Reigns-Roode, Lacey-Sasha, Kane Returns
The journey to Royal Rumble seems indeed glorious with WWE making a number of announcements for tonight’s episode of SmackDown. Three huge matches have been confirmed for the show including one monstrous return to hype things up for the first pay-per-view event of the year. None other than the Big Red Machine will be in attendance of the show to bring some fire alongside him.
As for the other matches, John Morrison returns to in-ring competition on WWE TV after almost a decade in a singles matchup. Roman Reigns will also be in action in a gimmick match that should be the main event of the night.
Also, the due match between Lacey Evans and Sasha Banks will take place on SmackDown that emanates from the Greensboro Coliseum Complex in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The main event of SmackDown is all set between Roman Reigns and Robert Roode as per the announcement from WWE.com. They will collide in a Tables Match after what transpired during the finishing moments of the Friday night show, last week.
After his suspension was over, Roode made a surprise comeback on SmackDown to thwart Roman Reigns who was acting as the helping hand for his brother The Usos against King Corbin and Dolph Ziggler. This allowed the heels to stand tall by the end of the night.
Now The Big Dog gets an opportunity to teach Roode a lesson in the scheduled match. However, a Tables Match favors the heel faction as it will take place under No-DQ rules which does not require pinfall to pick up the win.
Weeks of adversity and personal shots have to be settled in another announced matchup on SmackDown between Lacey Evans and Sasha Banks. This was supposed to take place in last week’s episode but got canceled due to Banks’ absence from the show. So WWE.com made it official for tonight,
“After weeks of verbal attacks and plenty of flying fists, Lacey Evans and Sasha Banks will finally meet in the ring on Friday Night SmackDown.
Will The Boss prove that she is indeed still at the head of SmackDown, or will Evans snag arguably the biggest win of her WWE career by besting The Blueprint? Find out when the two collide this Friday Night at 8/7 C on FOX.”

Lacey Evans has been holding a personal grudge against The Boss since the day she took verbal shots on Evans’ daughter. The situation worsened after Bayley taunted her again with the same issue creating a backstage brawl. Eventually, Bayley stood tall as the question remains whether Evans can make a big comeback or not.
Speaking of comebacks, John Morrison will be seen with his in-ring return on SmackDown in a singles contest against Big E,
“The Prince of Parkour showed he still has the moves with an impressive flip from the ring steps that neutralized Big E and spurred his longtime friend to victory. Will Morrison bring the same intensity inside the squared circle, or will Big E’s strength be too much to overcome?”

As seen in the past couple of weeks, Morrison has got along with former tag team partner The Miz to turn heel. He took cheap shots against E allowing his buddy to pick up the win against Kofi Kingston.
Now E got a chance to settle the score against the returnee. But Morrison still seems to be favorite to get the big victory as this is his first match on SmackDown after ten long years.

Another big segment will be in-store on SmackDown featuring WWE legend Kane who is making another comeback. No additional details have been provided regarding the purpose of his sudden appearance on TV.
But speculations are running high about Kane making an entry to the Royal Rumble match on January 26th. Most probably, he will make an official announcement regarding the same.
