The tone of this week’s Smackdown is already set with the headliner name of John Cena. The franchise player of the company is returning to make some major changes to WWE’s Road to Wrestlemania 36. Additionally, we are just 10 days away from the Elimination Chamber PPV for which the buildups will be continuing. The new Universal Champion Goldberg will also be in the house to address his win against The Fiend.
Plus, massive fallouts are expected on Smackdown from the just bygone Super Showdown event, last night in Saudi Arabia. What could be waiting next in the championship picture? Will there be new Elimination Chamber matches from the blue brand for both male and female divisions? We will get to know when Smackdown airs with the latest episode from the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.
Relived some great memories (and younger 🥺times) watching #RuthlessAggression on @WWENetwork. I’m now staring at my watch counting the hours until next week’s #Smackdown. So excited to come back to my @WWE family in the place I grew up! “C” you in BOSTON!!! @WWEonFOX pic.twitter.com/yeOHgeLKop

Just five weeks remaining from Wrestlemania 36, one of the cornerstone figures of the WWE is coming back home on Smackdown. It’s none other than John Cena who’d show up on WWE programming after almost one year’s hiatus to potentially note on his role for the biggest event of the year,
“John Cena will return to SmackDown on Friday, Feb. 28, as Team Blue continues down The Road to WrestleMania.
It was on SmackDown where The Cenation Leader made his dynamic debut nearly 18 years ago when he channeled “Ruthless Aggression” to challenge WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle in his debut match. Since that fateful night, Cena went on to become WWE’s standard-bearer, earning 16 World Championships and inspiring countless WWE fans to “Never Give Up.”
An icon in the ring and the star of such blockbuster films as “Bumblebee,” “Blockers” and the upcoming “F9: The Fast Saga,” Cena will soon bring his signature “Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect” back to SmackDown, as first reported by WWE Backstage on FS1.”
It’s almost certain that WWE will look forward to inserting John Cena into a Wrestlemania capacity, right away. He will feature in a bigger way on the card considering the show will emanate from his hometown of Tampa, Florida. The road to the biggest event will begin for him probably with the Elimination Chamber. He is most likely to announce himself for the gimmick-based match on March 8th.

Goldberg has won the Universal Championship defeating The Fiend Bray Wyatt at Super ShowDown that may have shocked some of the WWE Universe. The question remains how WWE intends to use the legendary name on SmackDown from now onwards as we gear up for WrestleMania. The questions will be answered as Goldberg will be in attendance on tonight’s episode of the show in Boston as confirmed by WWE.com,
“Goldberg is headed to Friday Night SmackDown, and he’s bringing the Universal Title with him.
The WWE Hall of Famer sent shockwaves through the sports-entertainment world when he defeated “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt at WWE Super ShowDown. Instead of who’s next, the WWE Universe will be wondering what’s next for Goldberg as he heads into his second reign as Universal Champion.
Will “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt reemerge to confront the first man to stop his twisted rampage? Or will Goldberg target a new member of Team Blue?”
Elimination Chamber is the next pay-per-view event in line and it’s expected that the gimmick match could determine the next contender for the Universal Title. Six names will be announced for a chance for a superstar who’d eventually challenge Goldberg for the title at WrestleMania 36. Last week, Sheamus declared himself to be one of them. With Cena being in the context, WWE should be confirming four more names for the match.
Speaking of Elimination Chamber, there would be a separate one for the SmackDown Women’s Division, as well. Lacey Evans already talked about it which should get confirmed, tonight. Evans will be one of the competitors for the gimmick match whereas five more names would be confirmed. The challenger will be named the new number one contender for the SmackDown Women’s Championship who faces Bayley at WrestleMania.
Plus, a new feud between Otis Dojovic and Dolph Ziggler will gradually brew up revolving around Mandy Rose. There’s speculation that it might culminate a match at WrestleMania. It’ll be interesting to see how WWE stretches out the feud, next. Also, we would hear what’d be in store for the new Smackdown tag team champions, The Miz and John Morrison when the show airs from Boston.
