After a stacked episode of Monday Night Raw, this week it’s time for SmackDown to give a tough competition to the flagship show. A solid lineup is waiting for the episode where two championship matches will be on the line.
Also, a couple of returns and grudge matches will be on the card making it a must-see edition of the show.
The Intercontinental Championship will be on the line where AJ Styles will be defending against a rare opponent standing against him. The SmackDown Women’s Championship will be on the line in a rematch from Extreme Rules.
Lacey Evans and Naomi will square off in a rematch to settle the score whereas Mandy Rose and Otis will be back in the scene when SmackDown airs from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
Last week, a Fatal-4-Way match went down on SmackDown where Gran Metalik from the Lucha House Party ended up becoming the number-one contender for the Intercontinental Championship held by AJ Styles.
So the title match will go down this week marking the third overall defense for the Phenomenal One who is expected to have one more successful defense before heading into SummerSlam 2020 where he is likely to continue his feud with Matt Riddle.
In the SmackDown Women’s Title picture, Nikki Cross once again captured the number-one contender’s spot by defeating best friend Alexa Bliss, last week.
She has recently been determined to pick up the women’s title but Sasha and Bayley have officially become dual champions on Raw and they’ll be holding the accolade for sometimes. So chances are pretty less that Cross would become the new women’s champion.
In another women’s division match on SmackDown, Lacey Evans competes against Naomi in a singles contest. For weeks now, Evans tried to humiliate Naomi but that strategy eventually backfired.
The audience also showed support towards the former champion by starting a trend on Twitter that she deserves better. So Naomi seems to be pretty favorite to win this scheduled match and probably get a future shot to the Women’s Championship.
One of the most romantic love stories in WWE will continue on SmackDown as Mandy Rose and Otis returns on the show, after several weeks of hiatus.
It seems that WWE has some plans for the Money In The Bank briefcase holder and his love interest as SummerSlam approaches. Perhaps a new feud will be waiting for them when they show up on the blue brand looking for a fresh start.
