Liv Morgan faced Lana in a rematch on the opening match of Monday Night RAW, this week. The match ended with the second consecutive win secured by Morgan against the Ravishing Russian. But then the segment proceeded with Ruby Riott returning from injury and turning on Morgan. A vicious assault followed on her former buddy that later allowed Lana to pick the bone with and hit her with a Face-buster move.
Spoiler: Another Top Superstar From WWE Raw To Get Suspended
As much as it looks surprising as to why WWE would move into a Liv Morgan vs. Ruby Riott feud, the creative team has solid reasons behind this. They want Morgan to emerge as a bonafide competitor on Monday Night RAW and to do so, she would have to prove herself as a wrestler. Performing in matches against will thus prove to be a no-do-gooder for her.
It was noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE wants to set up a feud for Liv Morgan into a legit wrestler. Lana can’t help her getting over when it comes to delivering performances. But a technical wrestler like Ruby Riott can do so by helping Morgan producing much better matches than Lana could.

Royal Rumble Rematch Announced For Next Week’s WWE Raw
With that being said, the new talent will get more exposure on TV as a talent,
“This was a way for Liv Morgan to get a win and set up her next rivalry with Ruby Riott which will be, in theory will be like — with Lana you can do a storyline thing and everything and Lana is really good at certain things, but wrestling isn’t one of them. Ruby Riott is a good worker and it will allow Liv Morgan to get over which is what the goal is, it will allow her to get over at least in an in-ring way.” (courtesy ringsidenews.com)

The source added that Liv Morgan could wrestle Lana “for 100 weeks in a row and never get a good match out of it.” Now the blonde head girl will be working with Ruby Riott who would lead her to showcase actual wrestling skills.
It should be noted that Morgan and Riott are friends in real life which generally helps wrestlers to deliver good matches, automatically. The Raw executive director Paul Heyman is high on Liv that indicates big things are in store for her.
