As reported earlier, the next match is set for Brock Lesnar after arriving on Monday Night Raw. It would be for the WWE Championship match as per the challenge, thrown by Rey Mysterio at the 33rd annual Survivor Series PVP show.
The Beast was already looking for a fight against the ‘biggest little man’ who would be happier with this announcement. WWE.com stated the following to officially announce one of the potential main events of the show,
“Mysterio has made a career of beating the odds, going toe-to-toe with the likes of The Undertaker, Kane, Mark Henry, Batista, The Great Khali and, yes, even Lesnar in the past. However, now that Lesnar has repeatedly crossed the line by targeting Mysterio’s family, we might see a whole new side of The Ultimate Underdog at WWE’s annual fall classic.
Can Mysterio slay The Beast and become a two-time WWE Champion, or will Lesnar cement his dominance on the red brand? Find out by tuning in to Survivor Series on Sunday, Nov. 24, at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. ET, streaming live on the award-winning WWE Network.”
Brock Lesnar made his rivalry with Rey Mysterio intensely personal when he attacked his son Dominik on the September 30 edition of Raw. Mysterio then brought Cain Velasquez (who famously defeated Lesnar for the UFC Heavyweight Title in 2010) to WWE on Friday Night SmackDown premiere on FOX, the same week. This caused in a matchup between Lesnar and Velasquez at WWE Crown Jewel 2019.
Brock Lesnar retained his WWE Championship forcing Cain Velasquez to tap out to the Kimura Lock. After the match, Rey Mysterio delivered some chair shots on the champion to make him irate. He decided to leave SmackDown going in the hunt for the ‘biggest little man’ and appear on last night’s WWE Raw.
After not seeing a glimpse of WWE Raw, Brock Lesnar attacked a couple of backstage persons at backstage. He also F-5d Dio Madin through the announce table. Afterward, Rey Mysterio appeared on the scene with a steel pipe in hand and target the knees of the beast.
He delivered some shots to leave Lesnar with an injured knee, last night. Following these altercations, WWE confirmed the expected matchup between the superstars who had an illustrious history.
