After a significant hiatus for a couple of years, Cathy Kelley returned to the WWE to restart her job as the backstage interviewer. Her work ethic made her quite popular among the WWE Universe since she decided to join the company back in 2016. She remained a regular feature on WWE television programming, primarily in NXT, until her departure in 2020.
However, in late 202, Cathy Kelley found her way back to the WWE programming at a point when the commentary team was all shaken up. Apparently, keeping a good rapport with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon helped her to make the comeback. She recently spoke about her second run and also admitted the same.

In a recent interview with Denise Salcedo, Cathy Kelley threw massive praise for the then-management led by Triple H and Stephanie McMahon after Vince McMahon’s retirement. In particular, Stephanie was credited with bringing her back to WWE,
“It started with an email to Steph [Stephanie McMahon]. We always used to talk and catch up on life, and she recommended having a Zoom account since everything is on Zoom now. It just snowballed from there. It all happened very quickly. About a month before I returned, the ball got rolling, and before I knew it, I was on a plane to Monday Night Raw. I was back and better than ever!”

Cathy Kelley never had any rift with Triple H and Stephanie even after leaving the WWE
After spending almost four years on the WWE NXT brand and being one of the most popular faces, Cathy Kelley resigned in February 2020 as she was exhausted with WWE’s schedule and further wanted to explore outside projects. However, she did know that a return to WWE was “always meant to happen.” By no means, her time could be viewed as the end of a chapter.
“It was always, ‘we’ll see you later’ and not a complete goodbye. I’ve always loved WWE, it’s in my veins at this point. So, coming back just felt very natural.”
“When I was away, I worked on some writing projects,” Cathy Kelley continued. “I worked on a feature film, a pilot, and an illustration project. Hopefully, they see the light of day soon.”
Proceeding further in the conversation, Cathy Kelley was asked to mention any kind of differences between working for the main roster brands and the NXT brand. She pointed out that many of the former developmental stars are currently on the mainstay banner which makes her really comfortable in the workplace.
Earlier this year, the former CEO Stephanie McMahon announced her decision to leave the WWE, an announcement that shocked the pro wrestling world. Being one of the closest to Stephanie McMahon, Cathy Kelley understood why the Billion Dollar Princess decided to step away. Explaining the decision, she noted how family has always been the priority for McMahon,
“Stephanie does not talk about this a lot, but family is really important to her. As Hunter [Triple H] explained recently, she just wants to spend time with them. The WWE schedule, as you know, can be very time-consuming. I have the utmost respect for her. I feel so grateful that she advocated for me in the way she has. Her support was a huge part in me coming back.”
