Chris Jericho is a bonafide WWE legend who’s been away from the company for the past few years. He’s performing in the rival brand, All Elite Wrestling where his time could be overdue to contract expiry. Hence, the multi-time champion could show up in the WWE, eventually. If this happens then he’s likely to go after his old friend-turned-foe.
A couple of days ago, RAW Superstar Kevin Owens changed his Twitter profile picture to remind us of the five-year anniversary of his memorable “Festival of Friendship” segment with Chris Jericho that took place on February 13, 2017 episode of RAW.
The AEW Superstar took notice to that change as he went on to respond with the following statement,
“I haven’t forgotten Owens….you never know when you’ll see me again.”

Chris Jericho has always been vocal about his WWE exit after his feud with Owens was mishandled. He wasn’t happy about WWE booking their WrestleMania 33 match. After months of friendship, Jericho was the mentor figure for Owens who became the Universal Champion. Then the betrayal happened in February that was supposed to lead to a Universal Title match at ‘Mania.

Returning Goldberg ruined the plans for Chris Jericho
But then the legendary Goldberg entered the scene and he instead won the Universal Title from Owens to set up another encounter with Brock Lesnar. Owens and Chris Jericho would go on to square off in a singles bout which was placed second on the card and the latter believes that WWE cared the least about that entertaining feud.
“I wasn’t happy with that match because they had us on second at that WrestleMania, which was the writing on the wall that they didn’t care about the feud,” Jericho told talkSport last year. “That was one of the best feuds that was originally meant to lead to the main event of WrestleMania, and then it ends up on second.”
“I just knew it was time for me to go [from WWE]. Little did I know I’d be gone forever, seemingly, but that’s how it goes.”
Chris Jericho signed a three-year deal with AEW in January 2019. In an update to his contract, Dave Meltzer reported that there is a one-year option left in the deal that will keep him with the company through 2022. At this point, it’s unknown whether he’s agreed to a contract extension.
