CM Punk has created another controversial story of his professional wrestling career, this time with the All Elite Wrestling promotion. He will not be returning to the company, any time soon, if ever. He was on top of the company’s roster after defeating Jon Moxley to reclaim the AEW World Championship in the main event of 2022 All Out pay-per-view in his hometown of Chicago.

But soon after that happened, the world in front crashed down and he himself is the one to be blamed for. Appearing on the All Out post-show media scrum, CM Punk created lots of drama. This led to a backstage fight involving top superstars that reportedly led to an injury. But that wasn’t exactly how things went down.

AEW Full Gear 2022: Current Plan Revealed For The Main Event Match

CM Punk To Be Out Of Action In AEW For 6 To 8 Months Due To Injury 1

SEScoops has learned that CM Punk was injured during his match against Moxley that was prior to any sort of physical altercation after All Out. He’ll now require surgery which will keep him away for a long time. The 2-time AEW World Champion is set to be out of action for the remainder of 2022.

The Second City Savior tore a muscle in his arm after hitting suicide dive on Moxley mid-way through the bout, as first reported by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio. It’s unclear if the injury has to do something with his triceps, biceps, or pectoral muscle but the bottomline is that he’s expected to miss 6-8 months of ring time. He thus got injured after winning the world titles on both two occasions.

CM Punk isn’t necessarily welcome in AEW locker room

Meltzer added that CM Punk’s injury and a guaranteed hiatus forced Tony Khan to make the decision to strip him of the AEW world title. Even if he wouldn’t be injured, he could have suffered the same consequences. If and when he gets over from the surgery, some of the company heads don’t want him back onboard,

“Punk’s out for eight months, or whatever it’s going to be, six months/eight months, whatever. If he’s not let go, and a lot of people don’t want him back.”

In his report, Meltzer also added that CM Punk didn’t feel respected in the AEW locker room as his philosophy of doing things is pretty different from how The Elite does things.
