Goldberg has competed in three matches in WWE in the year 2021 which was one more than what his contract demands. He lost to the former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre at the Royal Rumble 2021 in January, and then took another loss to another former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley at SummerSlam in August. Both these bouts were WWE Championship matches in which he came up short.
After a long time, Goldberg picked up a major win by defeating Bobby Lashley at this year’s Crown Jewel 2021 PPV event. In a previous interview, it was mentioned by the Hall of Famer himself that WWE used one of his matches from 2022 which leaves him with one single match in his WWE contract. The question is who will face the legendary name in that final match.
Goldberg Has Only One Match Left In His WWE Contract
The beef between Riddle and Goldberg is something known to the WWE Universe which was even acknowledged by WWE in their documentaries. Now, the RAW Tag Team Champion noted that he still wants matches with the former WCW franchise and Brock Lesnar.
Riddle wants a one-off match against Goldberg
To be specific, he mentioned in an appearance with Cheap Heat Podcast that the chances of competing in a match with Goldberg are better than facing The Beast,
“I will say this, Bill Goldberg, I’ll be honest, I think I’ve grown on the guy. I think he’s grown on me a little. I think that match could probably happen. We both went to Saudi, we were both on the same airplane, and we bumped into each other quite a few times on that airplane.
I think we can get that match. I think we can pull that one off. No promises, but I’m hoping in 2022 we get Riddle vs. Goldberg. It will sell tickets. Out of those matchups, I see that one happening the most.”
While this would be one of the most unusual lineups for the WWE Universe, they’ll be happy to see Goldberg crushing Riddle on his way out of the company. This would be a perfect stage for him to head into retirement given that he’s almost 55.
Another dream match for Goldberg is being rumored to be against Roman Reigns. This match was announced to take place at Wrestlemania 36 but it didn’t happen as Reigns backed out of that show. WWE could also arrange this match, next year, given it’s a money-maker.
