Extreme Rules 2021: Changes Made To WWE And Universal Title Matches

Earlier this week, Randy Orton vs. Bobby Lashley for the WWE Title was announced for the Extreme Rules 2021 pay-per-view. WWE had also announced that next Monday’s RAW would feature Orton and Riddle defending their tag team titles against Lashley and MVP. This came after Lashley and MVP won a Gauntlet Eliminator, this week to capture the number-one contender’s spot for those titles.

A commercial then aired during Super SmackDown where Orton vs. Lashley was preponed for this coming episode of RAW. It was clearly noted that the WWE Champion will defend against one-half of RAW Tag Team Champions, Orton on Monday’s RAW.

That being said, this match has been removed from WWE Extreme Rules 2021 listing. While the WWE website still has the PPV graphic for Orton vs. Lashley, the match has been removed from the actual card on the WWE website.

The official website of WWE brought out a preview for the upcoming match between Orton vs. Lashley saying that they do not want to wait for Extreme Rules 2021. There’s no mention of the nixed tag team match although it’s likely that the tag titles match won’t be happening, this week. It’s also possible that Orton vs. Lashley rematch will be added back to the PPV card with some sort of stipulation.

Reigns to face The Demon at Extreme Rules 2021

WWE has officially announced that Finn Balor’s alter-ego The Demon King will be challenging WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at Extreme Rules 2021. As seen on Smackdown, Balor brought back The Demon personal by the end of the show from MSG in New York City after which the lineup was confirmed.

WWE has already confirmed that Reigns will have to face Finn Balor when he puts the title on the line at the upcoming PPV event. This came as a rematch after Balor was defeated by Reigns on last week’s Smackdown main event. Now, it’s official that Balor’s alter-ego will be in action after hiatus of more than a couple of years.
