Ronda Rousey has become the new WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion at Extreme Rules 2022. In the second match of the premium live event, she defeated Liv Morgan to capture the blue brand title after a gap of three months. It’s interesting to note that this match was the only Extreme Rules Match scheduled for on the show’s card.
Heading into Extreme Rules 2022, Liv was the only woman in the whole world to have scored two victories over Ronda, but she was still the underdog in the match given Ronda’s past experiences in such extreme environments. Rousey expectedly started the match by dominating Morgan, but Liv came back into the match by spraying a Fire Extinguisher in Rousey’s face.

Rousey was back on assaulting Liv with Liv’s own baseball bat as the fans present at Extreme Rules 2022 chanted, “We Want Tables”. Rousey then used her Judo Black Belt to assault Liv. She was also trying to injure her opponent’s leg with a baseball bat. Liv then brought a table into the ring but Ronda smashed Liv’s face on the table, which had been set up in the corner.

Ronda Rousey was innovative in tapping out Liv Morgan at Extreme Rules 2022
Liv was eventually able to put Rousey through a Table with a Senton off the top rope. Liv went for the cover, but Rousey kicked out and locked in the Armbar immediately. Liv was trying to pick up Ronda with the Armbar locked in, but she couldn’t completely. At this point, Rousey modified the hold and choked out Morgan using her thighs to win the match and the title at Extreme Rules 2022.

This win marked Rousey’s second title reign. Her first title reign as the SmackDown Women’s Champion lasted from May 8 (Wrestlemania Backlash) to July 2 (Money in the Bank). Rousey also held the Raw Women’s Title during her first stint with the WWE.
Before losing the title at Extreme Rules 2022, Morgan had been the SmackDown Women’s Champion since she successfully cashed in her Money In The Bank contract against Rousey at Money In The Bank PLE. On that night, Morgan defeated Becky Lynch, Asuka, Raquel Rodriguez, Alexa Bliss, Lacey Evans, and Shotzi to win the 2022 Women’s Money In The Bank ladder match.
