Edge and Lita’s adultery angle has to be one of the most controversial storylines seen in WWE programming. The two WWE Hall Of Famers entered in a relationship at a time whether the latter was still Matt Hardy’s girlfriend. Even in real life that was the same equation among the trio.
Hence, Lita, being Hardy’s girlfriend, cheated on him to be with Edge. The two also got involved in a passionate love-making on live WWE TV to spike up the ratings back in 2005-06. The live sex celebration on Raw, the night after New Year’s Revolution 2006 PPV is still the highest rated segment in the show’s history.

Matt Hardy was obviously not happy with this as he would come back demanding her girlfriend back and in the process, he got fired by WWE, only to be hired back and continue that feud with Edge and Lita back. The storyline was one of the rarest occasions where the distinctions between kayfabe and real-life got wiped out.
Even on this date, the female veteran who was standing between Hardy and Edge is still feeling the effect. She gets on blasted by certain fans for featuring in that controversial angle. While speaking to Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette, Lita went into detail about that storyline and revealed that she almost wanted to quit WWE, one month into that televised affair with Edge.

Lita felt hard to play her role in Edge angle
“But I’ll tell you it was not easy. I mean, for sure, I almost quit a month [into] the whole love triangle. At that point, not only was it so hard, it was also out of shame. Like, I wasn’t proud of how I conducted myself. Yes, if I had to do it all over again, I absolutely would have handled myself differently,” Lita continued.
“But I didn’t. So, I was like, make the bed, and you lie in it. And at that point, I was just like, I deserve all of these terrible things that everybody is saying to me. I deserve not wanting to wake up every morning. It was also difficult, as time passed, to let myself off the hook. Edge and Matt Hardy had real-life heat between themselves over Lita, at that point. But they eventually came to terms with what happened and called it a truce. The two veterans then moved on to separate women to settle down in life.
The interesting thing is that WWE Universe almost doesn’t care about the other two involved in the angle but only Lita. Even after 15 years have passed by since then, the pioneer Women’s Champion gets bombarded for that non-PG storyline. She deserves a lot better than this and fans should keep that in mind.
