The update first came through TMZ, as the source claims that emergency responders were called to the pro-wrestling legend’s Clearwater, Florida, home early Thursday morning with the news.

The demise situation was described as a “cardiac arrest.” Several police vehicles and EMT units arrived on the scene as Hulk Hogan was seen being taken out of the house on a stretcher and loaded into an ambulance. Leading to the incident, his wife, Sky, previously spoke out and denied the internet rumors that the WWE Hall of Famer was in a coma. It was claimed that his heart was still functioning, “strong.”

After going through some medical procedures in recent times, there has been increasing concern about Hulk Hogan’s health in recent months. In May, he underwent a neck procedure that led to rumors circulating that he was on his “deathbed.” Sources close to the icon debunked those rumors, saying he was just going through some post-surgical symptoms but was not experiencing any critical condition.

Sources also informed TMZ that Hulk Hogan’s daughter, Brooke Hogan, learned of her father’s passing on Thursday morning through a text message her brother Nick sent to her husband. Brooke was not on talking terms with her father for some time, but she is said to be “grateful she had one final chance to tell her father she loved him.” Brooke is said to be at peace, the way she got to say “I Love You” to her father before the demise.

In a message posted to social media, WWE offered their condolences, saying that they are “saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away.” The company recognized Hogan’s forever impact on the wrestling cultural and beyond, adding that he was “one of pop culture’s most recognizable figures” and someone who “helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s.”

Hulk Hogan’s influence went beyond the wrestling ring as he made appearances in movies, television shows, and numerous other countless endorsements. In the process, he was converted into a pop-culture icon, and it was his presence that helped launch professional wrestling into the mainstream genre. Performing in the WCW, WWF(E), and TNA, he established himself to be one of the familiar global names in this sporting genre.
