As reported earlier, Kurt Angle was originally supposed to make his return to the WWE programming during the Wrestlemania 38 season. WWE’s Show of Shows will be the next PPV stop after the company makes another trip to Saudi Arabia, later this month.
Down the road, WrestleMania 38 matches will be announced by the company. Kurt Angle previously revealed to be a part of WWE TV, heading into the show but he won’t be there in the mix. Although rumors claimed that he could have taken a trip towards the Biggest Event of the Year, he was actually never booked for that event.

For weeks now, Team RK-Bro and Team Alpha Academy have been involved in an entertaining feud as they go towards a championship match. The two teams have taken part in various challenges to set up their next title bout and Kurt Angle could have been the officiator.
According to Fightful Select, there were plans for Kurt Angle to be a part of the RAW Tag Team Championship feud,
“Angle was originally figured in to the RK-BRO vs. Alpha Academy plans. There were pitches that the academic challenge would even be the ‘Three Is Challenge’, playing off of Angle’s wrestling days.
There were also discussions regarding Angle serving as a special guest referee in Saudi Arabia at the Elimination Chamber event.”
Kurt Angle could have been present at Elimination Chamber
The Academic Challenge between the two teams is now over and Team RK-Bro has emerged, victorious. Thus, the babyface team will now be challenging the heel duo for the Raw tag team championships, possibly at the Elimination Chamber. Kurt Angle could have been the special referee in this match but the plans changed in due course and the Olympic Gold Medalist never showed up.
Ringside News has also been informed by a tenured member of the creative team that Kurt Angle was never scheduled for a Wrestlemania storyline but perhaps he could have been flown in as a legend to meet the expectations of the Saudi Arabia fans for Elimination Chamber. He was also brought in for the Royal Rumble to do “documentary interviews and such.”
