For years now, we had been listening to CM Punk chants from WWE Universe in the pre-pandemic era as they are craving to get a glimpse of the popular superstar. That could finally be happening, somewhere down the road but not in a WWE ring. As Vince McMahon considers him not to be businessworthy, he would rather be trying to make an in-ring comeback to WWE’s rival brand, AEW.
The Shad and Tony Khan-owned brand has made it a regular thing to sign the released or former WWE Superstars. It appears that CM punk could soon join the list. The veteran wrestling star is reportedly having ongoing talks for a return to the ring, according to Fightful.
Major Spoiler On Former WWE Champion Daniel Bryan’s Debut On AEW

The most likely place for him to go is AEW, but a contract is yet to be signed. It doesn’t have a timetable, return date, or even creative plans that haven’t been put in place. The report noted by the source mentioned that CM Punk and a company official have been talking about potential in-ring wrestling, once again.
Since the fans have been allowed to get back to pro-wrestling shows, they could witness the much-anticipated return, happening, down the road but no specific offers have reportedly been made.
Ric Flair Released By WWE Upon Request To Vince McMahon
CM punk is absent from wrestling since 2014
CM Punk was released from WWE in 2014 after he had a major fall through with the company, that year. He last wrestled in a ring, earlier that year in the Royal Rumble match. He then fought twice in the UFC with a 0-1 record (1 no contest). Apart from pursuing a career in acting, he made a few appearances on FS1’s WWE Backstage in 2019. In that same year, he crashed an indie show under a mask.

On that night, a masked man appeared at the end of the show to help Ace Steele defeat Daryck St Holmes. The masked man, sporting a hoodie that CM Punk had worn earlier in the day at a BJJ tournament (by this Punk’s identity was let known), entered the ring while the referee was down and hit DSH with the pendant GTS finisher. The masked man then rolled out through the door.
A lot of chatters were thereafter heard about CM Punk’s return to wrestling but he apparently was happy staying away from in-ring action. We will have to wait and see whether his stance gets changed in due course.
