The team of Matt Riddle and Randy Orton was an odd pair from the get-go but that turned out to be a USP for the duo. For a long time since the 2021 summer, the tag team remained one of the highlights of Monday Night RAW. They became so popular that WWE had no way to split them up despite having short planning around them.
At the 2021 WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view, Riddle and Randy Orton challenged AJ Styles and Omos for the RAW Tag Team Championships and also ended up winning the match to become the new champions. That was a massive moment for the dual superstars as they kick-started the title reign with top babyface status being attached to them.

As stated by Riddle in an interview with BT Sport, the pair was never supposed to stay together for a long term. But positive fan reaction and their in-ring chemistry were able to keep them going for a long-time. Now that Randy Orton is out with a long-term injury, WWE may have received the perfect opportunity to finally break up the duo.

Randy Orton’s long absence may cause the breakup of Team RK-Bro
Dave Meltzer recently discussed how Team RK-Bro could be split up on a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio. After a long vacation from his WWE schedule, the seeds of a potential breakup have already been planted. Now WWE might just turn into a reality when Randy Orton comes back and betrays his partner,
“You dedicated a match to me and you blew it, you never won the big one, yeah. I could see that being a direction, and not a bad one either. I think Orton and Riddle if they do the thing, and the way it looks now, with Orton being out so long, we’re not doing it until 2023. So, by that time, you know what? Inevitably that was the idea and it’s a hell of a lot better doing it in 2023 than 2021.”
As Meltzer pointed out, Riddle is dedicating his singles in-ring outings to Randy Orton and he’s also using the signature moves of the Apex Predator. But that wasn’t enough for the Original Bro to win the big matches which could be a big payoff angle if the returnee turns on him.
Also, the long absence of Randy Orton would allow things to get cooled off around the team in the minds of the fans. Being a natural heel, the 14-time world champion could instantly don his original game attitude. In the process, he might just put over Riddle into a solo babyface player.
