Roman Reigns rules the roost in the WWE with an iron fist. Even during his absence from TV, his dominant force as the Undisputed Universal Champion continues through his representatives, The Usos and Paul Heyman. There’s literally no one on the roster who can stop him, right now. This could be why he’s been pulled from appearing at WWE Money In The Bank, earlier this month.
As per the recent reports, Roman Reigns will often need a break from continuously working in the WWE. It appears that he is entering into a new phase of his WWE career where he will no more be headlining TV shows or live events on a regular basis. While the door was closed for events like Hell in a Cell or MITB, there have always been positive indications that WWE would utilize the top-most champion for Summerslam 2022.
WWE Raw MSG: Roman Reigns; Rey Mysterio Anniversary And More Announced
Sean Sapp now reports via Fightful’s paywall that WWE sources told the outlet that Roman Reigns’ live event schedule had been scaled back while he will continue to remain on television and isn’t really slated to miss any time. In reality, the case is visibly different as The Tribal Chief has been missing Raw and Smackdown around May and June,
“WWE reps told Fightful that his live event schedule would be scaled back, but that he’d remain on TV, and wasn’t slated to really miss any time. That doesn’t seem to hold true. We’ve followed up with additional reps for clarity.”
Roman Reigns: WWE’s Possible Problem Booking The Top Superstar
Roman Reigns will be utilized as Brock Lesnar on WWE TV
Hence, it’s safe to say that Roman Reigns’ WWE schedule appears to be changing no matter what the outlet was informed. WWE felt that Money in the Bank ladder matches was enough to sell out that pay-per-view and they won’t need any top title defense on the card. The event had also been moved from Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium to a smaller venue of the MGM Grand, as well.
WWE apparently plans to make Roman Reigns the next Brock Lesnar and due to that, he will be having a more limited schedule similar to the Beast Incarnate. Obviously, that means that WWE’s weekly TV programming will be having lesser star power, and to cover that up, the company needs to come up with some backup plans, or else TV ratings would be hit in a major way.
