Roman Reigns has been the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion since defeating Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 38 Night Two main event. The status of being a dual champion could have finally come to an end as WWE tweaked his status as a champion on their official website.
Roman Reigns won Universal Championship at Payback in 2020 and then the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 38 in 2022, to get recognized as the undisputed champion. However, there were speculations about whether his two belts were considered separate championships or one singular championship like the previous WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Roman Reigns no more a dual champion in WWE
In an update, WWE.com previously listed Roman Reigns twice in the champions section, both as the Universal Champion and WWE Champion, indicating that they were still being treated as separate titles. The website has since combined the titles and unified them as The Tribal Chief is now being listed as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. The change suggests that the two belts have finally been unified.

It’s yet to be confirmed whether this change indeed reflects what the WWE creative team thinks of Roman Reigns’ title reign and his status as a champion. However, the changes are significant since at Night of Champions, a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion was crowned when Seth Rollins won over AJ Styles and introduced another top world title to the landscape of the WWE.
Update on Undisputed Tag Titles in WWE
Meanwhile, a similar situation has recently occurred with the tag team champions Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. They were previously listed separately as RAW Tag Team Champions and SmackDown Tag Team Champions but they are now listed once as the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions. This comes after the Draft where both men’s and women’s tag champs will be allowed to travel on Raw and Smackdown for title defenses.
Recently, Roman Reigns has been confirmed to make an appearance at Summerslam 2023 and the fans can look forward to witnessing the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion in the main event at the summer PLE. Some other notable top WWE Superstars like Cody Rhodes, Bianca Belair, Rhea Ripley, Seth Rollins, and Becky Lynch have also been confirmed to make appearances at the PLE.
