Bad luck continues for Ronda Rousey following the 2022 Summerslam edition. After failing to capture the Smackdown Women’s Title, now she has been taken off WWE programming in a storyline way. The company has now announced her suspension for showing ruthless aggression toward her opponent.
In the co-main event of WWE SummerSlam 2022 Premium Live Event, Liv Morgan retained her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Ronda Rousey. The finish of this match was a controversial one where the challenger was on her back, having her opponent trapped in the Armbar Submission hold.

Since Ronda Rousey’s shoulders were pinned on the mat, the referee began counting the pin and eventually reached three. Liv also tapped out to the submission hold but the referee didn’t see it and hence announced Liv was the winner via clean pinfall. The commentary team saw the footage in the replay and noted how this was the referee’s mistake.

Ronda Rousey went reckless at WWE Summerslam 2022
Ronda Rousey wasn’t happy about the call made by the referee and attacked both Liv and the referee after the match with her Armbar submission. For her reckless aggression and putting her hands on an official, WWE has now suspended the top Smackdown superstar. Here’s what they have posted on their official website.
“Following her attack on referee Dan Engler at SummerSlam, Ronda Rousey has been fined an undisclosed amount and will be suspended.
An irate Rousey attacked the official after her SmackDown Women’s Title Match, claiming he missed Liv Morgan tapping out to the Armbar while he counted the pinfall.
Due to her suspension, Rousey will not appear on this week’s Friday Night SmackDown.”
This is the second time in her WWE career that Ronda Rousey got suspended for putting up scary acts. Back at Money in the Bank 2018, in her debut match against Nia Jax, Alexa Bliss cashed in her MITB contract on Jax to become the new champion. But at the same time, she assaulted Rousey with the briefcase.
As a consequence, the next night on Raw, Ronda Rousey brutally assaulted her and also took out a number of security guards to create a ruckus on Raw and thereby get suspended.
There’s no update on how long The Baddest Woman on the Planet will stay out of action, this time around but she’s confirmed not to be present on this week’s Smackdown.
